Mike Macdonald, during his Seattle Sports radio show said there's no update yet on the injuries that RT George Fant (knee) and RB Kenneth Walker III (abdomen) suffered yesterday.

"Yet" could be the key word, but the post went on to say Walker did declare during postgame, "I'm good." Walker had a big day going over 100 yards with a TD, but had to leave the game during the final minutes with a muscle injury. It will be worth monitoring over the next couple of days.

Brian Daboll says Daniel Jones will remain the starting quarterback for the Giants.

The good news is if you're a Jones owner, he remains the starter. The bad news is we're only heading to Week 2 and the team needed to clarify this. Jones struggled in his return from the ACL injury and the hope is things will get better for him. The Giants seem to be willing to give Jones a bit of a leash here, but Lock lingers as a possible option if Jones continues to struggle as the weeks go on.

Tyler Lockett has missed more than two weeks with a leg injury, but the Seahawks receiver insists he will play in Sunday’s season opener.

“Unless you know something I don’t,” Lockett said.

Lockett, who was wearing a strap over his left knee Monday, did not play in the preseason and is unconcerned about his limited reps in training camp in a new offense. He called his absence precautionary, the story went on to say. Lockett is behind Metcalf, at least, on the Seahawks depth chart. The development of JSN will be something to watch this year as he could earn the targets to take over the WR2 role. We do rank JSN slightly ahead of Lockett on our WR list.

Sean McVay says Puka Nacua is practicing fully.

There's been a lot of hand-wringing about Nacua's knee injury, and it has dropped him well out of the first round on many occasions. He remains a a fringe WR1 option if he heads into Week 1 fully healthy.

Surgery on J.J. McCarthy’s torn meniscus revealed that a repair was necessary and the Vikings rookie quarterback now will miss the 2024 season.

While the Vikings are disappointed, they “strongly believe he will come back better and have a long, successful NFL career”, as one team official said. But rookie season is over.

So much for a QB controversy.

This will be Sam Darnold's job, which makes him an interesting target deep in Superflex/2QB leagues.

Coach Kevin O’Connell has announced that quarterback J.J. McCarthy will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

As the story went on to say, the threshold question is whether he’ll have the meniscus trimmed or repaired. As to the former, the player can come back quickly. As to the latter, he could miss several months. The story also pointed out that the other side of the coin is that a repair maximizes the amount of cartilage in the knee. A trim reduces the cushioning, setting the stage for a potential bone-on-bone situation. The story added what it thinks is the smart, long-term play - to get the meniscus repaired and the team goes with Darnold in 2024 and Hall would be the backup. McCarthy could potentially make a return around November. This is just the opinion of the author of course, we should get more information soon. For now, Darnold should get a bump in value with McCarthy at least temporarily out of the picture. He has the weapons around him to be a potential QB2 and superflex option.

Coach Kevin O’Connell said McCarthy reported right knee soreness to the team’s medical staff.

McCarthy played 30 snaps in the preseason opener and went 11-of-17 for 188 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He was scheduled to receive more snaps with the first-team offense this week, O’Connell said in the story. The team said they sat him out of precaution and also wanted to run more tests.

Giants QB Drew Lock is dealing with a bad bone contusion and strained oblique from last night’s preseason game. He’s expected to miss some time, but no surgery is required.

Coach Brian Daboll said NYG could potentially add another QB with Lock sidelined a bit.

This could indirectly give Daniel Jones a little extra job security. Jones remains an interesting deep pick in 2QB/Superflex leagues.

As the third week of camp nears an end, Sam Darnold has received all but two of the first-team reps in 11-on-11 drills. J.J. McCarthy got the other two. This should be no surprise to anyone who has listened to coach Kevin O'Connell talk about the position. While McCarthy is clearly the club's future quarterback, team leaders are in agreement that his ascension will not be rushed.

Any doubts that Darnold will start the season as QB1 seem to be out the window at this point. The Vikings do have a tough opening schedule, with the 49ers, Texans, Packers, and re-vamped Jets coming before their Week 6 Bye. McCarthy could be a play by the second half of the season, so we'll see how he looks for streaming purposes if/when that time comes.

During an appearance on NFL Network Monday, Cooper Kupp said that his good health and the chance to work out with quarterback Matthew Stafford has him feeling primed for a return to his desired form.

“I feel good. We got a lot of good work in this offseason,” Kupp said. “The best thing about this last year was just being able to feel healthy and have a full offseason of work, not just for myself in terms of working out and building my body back up but also having that time with Matthew, being able to get on the field and work through things together.

The key for Kupp has been his ability to get a normal offseason under his belt. Kupp ended the 2022 season on injured reserve and then started the 2023 season the same way, which has helped make it feel like it’s been even longer since he was the NFL’s offensive player of the year, the story said. The story added this offseason has been a lot smoother for Kupp. He returned from a hamstring injury to play 13 games last year and he’s been able to work without any health concerns since the Rams’ season ended against the Lions in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
