Doug Pederson said Monday that rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts will start the season finale against Washington, which is meaningless for the Eagles but will make Washington the NFC East champion if the visitors win.
“Definitely want to continue to evaluate, not only him but the rest of the team, and where we are moving forward,” Pederson said.
Hurts wasn't great in Week 16, a loss to a Dallas and a defense that has struggled at times this year. But the Eagles want to continue to get a look at Hurts, as has been reported since he took over the starting job. There will be lots of decisions to make this offseason in Philly, from QB to coach to GM.
PHI QB Jalen Hurts - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook
Week 17 vs. Washington
After an outstanding fantasy outing back in Week 15, Jalen Hurts came back down to earth last week because of turnovers, but his numbers overall have been very good. Through three games as a starter, Hurts has completed 62 of 113 passes for 847 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions, and he's added 238 yards and a score on the ground.
Hurts will face the Washington Football Team who is ranked sixth in aFPA to quarterbacks. The Washington defense has been putting pressure on quarterbacks so this could affect Hurts who has put up numbers but hasn't been very accurate with his throws in his rookie season.
Start Hurts as a low-end QB1 even with the tough matchup. He has back-to-back 300-yard passing games and the rushing ability makes the difference and elevates his fantasy value.
