In a surprise move, A.J. Dillon returns to Green Bay. Josh Jacobs is capable of handling a bigger role than Aaron Jones was, so Dillon's typical role–12.3 touches in 41 games with Jones in the lineup over the last three seasons–may shrink to 6-10 touches per game (or less if Dillon can’t beat out MarShawn Lloyd). Dillon averaged about 70 total yards per game in the six games that Jones missed, so he'll have some attrition appeal as an RB3/RB4 if he remains the primary backup. Early indications are that Lloyd will have a sizable role, so DIllon’s fantasy value may be at an all-time low.

Running back A.J. Dillon was placed on injured reserve and was not designated to return, meaning he is done for the year.

Dillon recently suffered another stinger and last week said he was awaiting test results. Head coach Matt LaFleur had said “absolutely there’s a concern” with Dillon’s injury, noting that Green Bay would proceed cautiously.

Fantasy Impact:

Dillon, 26, was expected to be the primary backup to running back Jacobs, and the team recently announced the rookie Lloyd will start the season on the PUP list and miss the first four games of the season at least. Wilson and Merriweather are now behind Jacobs, but it's possible the Packers will have to make a move at the position at least until Lloyd comes back.

A.J. Dillon struggled again last week as the lead back, which is tough to swallow given how the Giants had been beaten up on the ground. However, he emerged from the game with a broken thumb and has yet to practice this week.
