Rams WR Cooper Kupp limped off the field with an apparent ankle injury. He has gone into the locker room.

Kupp had his ankle stepped on while blocking on a run play. Video surfaced of him being checked out by trainers. We'll get more word down the line, but for now, Kupp is out.

Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Rams with an oblique injury.

Rookie Zach Charbonnet will now lead the charge in Seattle's backfield. Walker made a cut, seemed to tweak a muscle and went right to the medical tent. He was able to walk off the field. We'll see how serious the injury is, especially considering the Seahawks have already ruled him doubtful.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said running back Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion in Sunday's game versus the Saints.

The trend has been players sit out at least week after falling into concussion protocol, so Mattison owners may want to make alternate plans now. To complicate things, Mattison and the Vikings have the Sunday night game at Denver in Week 11. Chandler could see a bulk of the work and scored on a wildcat formation play in Week 10. The team has already signed Gaskin ahead of Week 11. Chandler could make for an interesting pickup this week if he's on your wire. It's a favorable matching against the Broncos.

Vikings running back Cam Akers will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

That was believed to be the case as soon as Akers went down on Sunday, and it was confirmed by an MRI today, coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed today.

This is the second time Akers has torn his Achilles. He previously tore it in July of 2021 when he was with the Rams and made a remarkably quick recovery, getting back on the field for the final game of the regular season. But even if he can repeat that remarkably quick recovery this time, he won’t be at full speed until April, the story said. Akers was cutting into Mattison's time since getting up to speed after being traded. The RB2 job would seem to go back to Chandler, although the Vikings, sitting at 5-4, may very well bring in another back.

Pete Carroll reiterated that the loss “is not on one guy,” but the two turnovers make eight in the last four games for Geno Smith and Carroll was asked about his level of concern about that run.

“I’m concerned about that,” Carroll said. “The one, on the fumble, that’s a pass-rush deal. The interception, he threw it up, and the guy who’s been making all the interceptions made another one. But that’s not the direction for us to be going. Up until this game, it took us to first place, whatever the heck we’ve been doing. We didn’t play like a first place team today. With those kind of turnovers, it’s really hard to win.”

As the story summed up, the loss dropped the Seahawks to 5-3, which puts them back into a tie with the 49ers at the top of the NFC West. They’ll face the Commanders and Rams before a three-game run that features two games against the Niners sandwiched around a matchup with Dallas. Lock is the backup to Smith.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters after Sunday's win over the Falcons that running back Cam Akers suffered an Achilles injury.

Another such injury for Akers, who made a miraculous recovery two years ago from a July Achilles injury to return at the end of the season and participate in the playoffs. Akers was actually the emergency quarterback behind Josh Dobbs after the injury to starting quarterback Jaren Hall. Based on what we've seen from him and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Akers should be good for the start of next season, but two Achilles tears is certainly a big concern going forward.

Seahawks WRs DK Metcalf (hip) and Tyler Lockett (hamstring) are off the injury report and expected to play Sunday vs. the Ravens.

The main duo combined for 23 targets last week against the Browns, and we should expect more usage like that in Week 9, despite the continued ascension of rookie underneath option, Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (concussion) is present and participating during early open portion of practice.

Purdy is for sure not still in the clear to start in Week 8, but a Thursday practice swings the probability positively. Players in the confusion protocol have been historically unlikely to play the following week, but it's still in the cards. Friday's practice should give us more insight.

Potentially significant: 49ers QB Brock Purdy is in the NFL's concussion protocol, coach Kyle Shanahan tells reporters.
