Week 8 Injury Report: Burdened By What Has Been

The 2025 NFL Week 8 brought us a few injuries that will impact our fantasy teams. I will continue to update the injury tracker and post any updates as team reports come out. Be sure to bookmark the 4for4 2025 Injury Tracker for continuous weekly updates.

Cam Skattebo, RB New York Giants

Injury: Right Ankle Dislocation, Fracture

Projected Timetable: 2026

Initial Thoughts:

We are still awaiting more information, but he has already undergone surgery to repair his ankle. Key information that I will need in order to estimate his timetable and 2026 production will be if there was any tibia fracture involvement (his fibula very likely fractured), any deltoid ligament tearing that requires repair, and if he will require multiple surgeries, which we would find out much later. I am also hoping that his injury was not an open fracture, which would involve fractured bone fragments piercing through the skin and often increase infection risk and trauma. The more significant the trauma is, I believe his production will likely be at risk further into the season. If it trauma and involvement is on the lower end, he should be able to be ready for the 2026 season and produce fairly well even beginning in week 1 and ramping up through the first quarter of the season. Ultimately, when evaluating severe injuries and options to buy low on players, Skattebo has certain traits that make him a fascinating buy low. His current production as a rookie was very good on a per touch basis, his head coach and quarterback trust him significantly, and he possesses a strong love for the game. I have zero doubt that he will work tirelessly to rehabilitate as quickly and diligently as he can with a goal of being ready for week 1. Go acquire.

Saquon Barkley, RB Philadelphia Eagles

Injury: Groin or Hamstring Strain

Projected Timetable: Week 10

Initial Thoughts:

Barkley told media that he has been working through this same injury in the past and he is not overly concerned about it. There has been mixed reporting on whether it is a hamstring or groin strain. He performed very well though did not return after a long run where he appeared to pull up after going out of bounds. The Eagles have a bye week so hopefully this gives him enough time to fully heal for week 10. If you are concerned, stash Tank Bigsby who appears to have taken over the RB2 role.

Quinshon Judkins, RB Cleveland Browns

Injury: Right Shoulder/AC Sprain

Projected Timetable: Week 10

Initial Thoughts:

By video, it appeared to be mild mechanism after landing hard on his right side after getting tackled by a defender. These kinds of AC sprains are always difficult to assess via video because it is difficult to determine ligament damage. Thankfully, Cleveland has a bye week, so hopefully this gives him enough time to heal. The score was 16-7 at the time of his injury and he did not return, so clearly it was painful enough to prevent him from returning.

Marvin Mims Jr., WR Denver Broncos

Injury: Concussion

Projected Timetable: Week 9-10

Initial Thoughts:

On average, players have missed 1 week due to concussion protocol. Monitor his practice status as the week goes on. If he misses, it would presumably provide a boost to Troy Franklin.

Luther Burden III, WR Chicago Bears

Injury: Concussion

Projected Timetable: Week 9-10

Initial Thoughts:

On average, players have missed 1 week due to concussion protocol. Monitor his practice status as the week goes on. If he misses, it would presumably provide a boost to DJ Moore or Olamide Zaccheaus unfortunately.

Drake London, WR Atlanta Falcons

Injury: Hip

Projected Timetable: Week 9-10

Initial Thoughts:

Unfortunately, London was added late to the injury report with a hip injury Friday or Saturday and wound up missing week 8. Officially, he was listed on Saturday but multiple reports surfaced that he was seen initially listed on the injury report on Friday and then removed. Somewhat of an odd situation without more information known, so the current hope is that this injury is not a multiple week issue. Next week's practice status will be key.

Carson Wentz, QB Minnesota Vikings

Injury: Left Shoulder Reinjury

Projected Timetable: Week 9

Initial Thoughts:

Based on video and multiple recurrences and aggravations from Thursday night, it appears that Wentz likely has a shoulder labral tear based off of how he was bracing his arm and wearing the shoulder harness. Now that J.J. McCarthy is likely to suit up for week 9, I will be curious if the Vikings shut Wentz down for a bit to fully heal and run with Max Brosmer at their QB2.

Rashid Shaheed, WR New Orleans Saints

Injury: Right Back/SI Joint/Hip

Projected Timetable: Week 9

Initial Thoughts:

Despite remaining down on the field for a time period while getting checked by trainers, he was able to hop up and jog off of the field without assistance. It appeared that the staff was evaluating near his right SI joint, but that area can often have referred pain from the lumbar spine, such as a facet joint that gets irritated with rapid rotation and extension. He seemed fine afterwards, so most likely he will be able to suit up for week 9 but monitor his practice status. He also remains a top name thrown around in trade rumors.
