Draft note
by John Paulsen
Waller had an epic 90-1,146-3 breakout season on 117 targets, though the next closest Raider in targets was Hunter Renfrow with 71. I’d expect the offense to be more balanced in 2020 after the Raiders drafted Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards and Lynn Bowden, so Waller’s targets are likely to decrease in 2020. Fortunately, he can afford to lose some usage and still produce a top five fantasy season, but I wouldn’t expect another 1,000-yard season given all the weapons the Raiders added this offseason.

OAK TE Darren Waller - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Denver Broncos
UPDATE: Tyrell Williams will play in Week 17

In Week 16, Waller played 81% of the snaps, had four receptions on four targets, 37 yards, 19 air yards, zero touchdowns, 13% of the team targets, 14% of the team air yards and finished as the half PPR TE20. As predicted, Hunter Renfrow’s return had a negative impact on Waller’s fantasy performance.

The Raiders are motivated to win because they still have a slim chance of making the playoffs. A lot of pieces would have to fall into place but it is still mathematically possible.

The Denver Broncos are the thirteenth best defense against tight ends, per our schedule adjust fantasy points metric. 4for4 rankings expert, John Paulsen, has Waller ranked as the half PPR TE6. Tyrell Williams missed practice on Thursday with ongoing issues caused by plantar fasciitis. Monitor Williams’ status closely because Waller could receive a slight boost if Williams is ruled out.
