Jayden Daniels, who is dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain, will not start on Monday night against the Chiefs, per sources. Marcus Mariota gets his third start for the Commanders.

It's looking like all the injury luck Daniels had as a rookie has run out in Year 2. Hopefully he returns quickly, but in the meantime, Marcus Mariota can stay on waiver wires.

Commanders wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are expected to return to full participation in practice this week.

It was the fourth game McLaurin has missed this season since his injury in Week 3, the story pointed out. Samuel has had little practice time the past three weeks, but Sunday’s game was the first that he’s missed, the story added.

We won't know more until later in the week, but those counting on Daniels in Week 8 will need a backup plan. Mariota will get the call if Daniels can't play, but if you have a better option it may be best to go that direction. With six teams on byes in Week 8, owners should make a plan sooner than later.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels exited Sunday‘s game against the Cowboys with a right leg injury.

After a tackle, Daniels grabbed at his right hamstring as we walked off the field and went right to the blue tent. Daniels has already missed two games this season with a knee sprain. Marcus Mariota averaged about 175 passing yards and had three passing touchdowns in his two starts in Weeks 3 and 4. We’ll wait and see what the extent of the injury is and if Daniels will miss time again. Washington’s bye isn’t until Week 12.

The Commanders downgraded WR Deebo Samuel to out for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

Samuel missed practice all week with a heel injury. This sets up Luke McCaffrey and Chris Moore as the top two wide receivers for Washington Sunday as Terry McLaurin is out again — he did return to practice this week — and Noah Brown is on injured reserve.

Samuel is also dealing with an injury issue which could keep him out, which is awful news ahead of a juicy matchup against the Cowboys defense. If both were to miss, McCaffrey would be a very interesting sneaky start.

McLaurin returned to practice yesterday, but that may have been some false hope. If he's able to go in Week 7, he and Deebo will have a fantastic matchup against a Dallas defense that ranks 32nd in WR aFPA.

The Commanders have placed WR Noah Brown on Injured Reserve, knocking him out the next four games. He's dealing with a groin injury.

In better news, coach Dan Quinns said Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (quad) will practice this week.

Samuel was called "very questionable" on some NFL shows leading up to Sunday's games, but it appears he's good to go for MNF. With Terry McLaurin likely out, Samuel should be heavily involved in the offense.

Samuel is officially listed as questionable for Monday against the Bears. Keep an eye on this one as Samuel went from no practice Thursday to limited Friday to no practice Saturday. Washington already ruled out Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown. If Samuel can’t go, Washington’s top receivers would be Chris Moore, Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane.
