Fantasy Football Week 9 Injury Report: Arts and Krafts Gone Wrong
The 2025 NFL Week 9 brought us a few injuries that will impact our fantasy teams. I will continue to update the injury tracker and post any updates as team reports come out. Be sure to bookmark the 4for4 2025 Injury Tracker for continuous weekly updates.
Jayden Daniels, QB Washington Commanders
Injury: Left Elbow Dislocation
Projected Timetable: TBD
Initial Thoughts:
Unfortunately, with the game largely out of hand, Daniels attempted to brace his fall as he was being tackled and suffered a gruesome left elbow injury. This is most likely a dislocation, UCL tear, possible nerve damage, and possible fracture. The good news is that this is his non-throwing arm, and he was also able to move his fingers and hand as he was walking off with his elbow in an aircast, so any nerve damage could be minimal. It has also been speculated in the medical community that, because this is to his non-throwing elbow, he may not even require a Tommy John surgery to repair the UCL. In theory, it makes sense considering his left elbow will not sustain high stress to the UCL as the right elbow would during a typical throwing motion.
Oftentimes, they will allow it to scar over and heal with rehab in an attempt to avoid surgery. Given how much he rushes and utilizes his left arm to brace himself, I would think he would want a stable elbow long-term, but we'll find out as the week goes on. Most likely, his season is over, but in the most optimistic path of outcomes, he could make a late season return with an elbow brace. As of now, assume he is out for the remainder of the season, and I still think there is a chance he will require surgery.
CJ Stroud, QB Houston Texans
Injury: Concussion
Projected Timetable: Week 11
Initial Thoughts:
The majority of players miss at least one week due to a concussion, with a very few rare exceptions who are able to clear protocol in time. Anticipate Davis Mills starting for the Texans in week 11, but monitor Stroud's practice status.
Aaron Jones, RB Minnesota Vikings
Injury: AC Sprain
Projected Timetable: Week 10-11
Initial Thoughts:
Early reports indicate that it is a mild AC sprain and that he is viewed closer to Day to Day versus this being a concerning multi-week concern. Monitor his practice status this coming week, but there is optimism that he will not miss time.
Samaje Perine, RB Cincinnati Bengals
Injury: Ankle Sprain
Projected Timetable: Week 11-13
Initial Thoughts:
There has been no word on the severity of injury, but he was in obvious pain after the inury occurred and was unable to return to the game. By mechanism, it appeared to be a high ankle sprain, which is typically multi-week. Monitoring for further information.
Ollie Gordon, RB Miami Dolphins
Injury: Ankle Sprain
Projected Timetable: Week 10-12
Initial Thoughts:
Initial reports have indicated that he is Day to Day and that he could have returned to the Thursday night game, despite not returning to the game. By video, there is still a chance this was a high ankle sprain, which would cost him more playing time. Monitor his practice status in this upcoming week.
Puka Nacua, WR Los Angeles Rams
Injury: Chest, Ribs
Projected Timetable: Week 10-11
Initial Thoughts:
He appeared to be bracing his chest near his sternum, which could indicate a more serious SC sprain or simply a rib contusion or costocartilage sprain. These can be fairly painful and make it difficult to breath, reach arms out and up overhead, and move quickly, such as running or cutting. There is a chance this leads to missed time, but it did appear that he was attempting to return to the game with the score grossly out of hand. He either did not return to the game due to injury or out of precaution due to the score. His practice status this coming week will tell us a lot.
Kayshon Boutte, WR New England Patriots
Injury: Hamstring Strain
Projected Timetable: Week 11-13
Initial Thoughts:
On average, wide receivers miss 2-3 weeks with a hamstring strain that has knocked the player out of the game. In some instances, they have been placed on IR due to a moderate or higher strain. Monitoring for more news, but I do anticipate him to miss several weeks.
Matthew Golden, WR Green Bay Packers
Injury: Shoulder
Projected Timetable: Week 10-11
Initial Thoughts:
Golden suffered a shoulder sprain and was unable to return to the game. Without more context or video, I am unsure if this is an AC sprain or another involved sprain, but it could cost him at least 1-2 weeks. Practice status will be key. The team could certainly use him with Kraft out and Jayden Reed not quite ready to play yet.
Brian Thomas Jr, WR Jacksonville Jaguars
Injury: Left Ankle
Projected Timetable: Week 11-13
Initial Thoughts:
By video, it appeared to be a high ankle mechanism as the defender rolled up on his pinned ankle. He attempted to return to the game, but was in clear pain trying to cut and push off of his ankle. He then left the game and was unable to play in their overtime drive. If this is a high ankle sprain, I would anticipate a 2-3 week timetable for return. Hopefully, we get more information soon.
Dyami Brown, WR Jacksonville Jaguars
Injury: Concussion
Projected Timetable: Week 11
Initial Thoughts:
On average, players miss at least 1 week due to concussion protocol. Anticipate him missing week 10, but monitor his practice status in case he is able to clear. With Thomas Jr also injured, Parker Washington should be rostered everywhere as the Jaguars' primary target.
Tucker Kraft, TE Green Bay Packers
Injury: Right Knee, concern for ACL/MCL
Projected Timetable: TBD
Initial Thoughts:
The team has already announced that the injury does not look good, but no other specifics have been given. Rapaport reported that the team is concerned about ACL, which fits my concern via video. His right foot was planted in slight external rotation while his teammate knocked his right knee rapidly into valgus, a typical mechanism that can tear the ACL. The hope is that this is just an MCL injury, but even if so I still think he will miss a good chunk of time. For now, I am bracing for news that this is a season-ending ACL and MCL injury, but quietly hoping that the MRI reveals only MCL damage. I am not overly optimistic, though.
Cole Kmet, TE Chicago Bears
Injury: Concussion
Projected Timetable: Week 11
Initial Thoughts:
Notably, Colston Loveland had vastly outpaced Kmet in routes run prior to the concussion. It appeared that the takeover had already begun, but now it is likely that Kmet misses week 10 due to the concussion. Monitor his practice status. Loveland could be in line for another big game.
