Fantasy Football Recap Week 6: 21 Things You Need To Know

There are not many sure things in fantasy football, but 2025 has given us one undeniable fact. Start all your players against the Dallas Cowboys. Da ‘Boys just allowed 30 points to the Carolina Panthers, including more than 200 scrimmage yards to Rico Dowdle and the second-highest quarterback rating of Bryce Young’s career.

How bad are the Cowboys? The 2015 New Orleans Saints allowed a record-high 45 passing touchdowns that year. Dallas is on pace to allow 43 this season, which would be one of the highest marks allowed all time.

Before we get our Week 5 double-header with the Buffalo Bills versus the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears visiting the Washington Commanders, let’s take a look at the good, the bad, and the injured from a wild Week 6 in the NFL.

Stud Players

Which players put up the best performances in Week 6?

Is this the 2021 version of Patrick Mahomes we have running out there every week this season? After throwing for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and rushing for another touchdown, Mahomes is QB1 on the week entering Monday Night Football. All the right people got involved on Sunday. Hollywood Brown caught two scores. Xavier Worthy caught a touchdown. And Travis Kelce had six grabs for 78 yards.

Drake Maye had the top spot of the day until Sunday Night Football, thanks to 261 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and a two-point conversion. Maye performed his feat on the road and it marked the third time in four games that the New England Patriots’ quarterback has more than 20 fantasy points.

Rico Dowdle crushed his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, to the tune of 239 total yards and a receiving touchdown. Considering he has back-to-back weeks of more than 200 total yards, I don’t see how Chuba Hubbard just immediately walks back into a full-time role after this level of success. That’s back-to-back weeks of more than 30 points for Dowdle.

Josh Jacobs ran all over the Cincinnati Bengals for 93 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. But it was his work in the passing game that was very encouraging against Cincinnati. Jacobs caught five of five passes for another 57 yards on the day.

George Pickens continues to crush without CeeDee Lamb in the lineup. He finished Sunday with nine catches on 11 targets for 168 yards and a touchdown against Carolina. Will this all continue when Lamb is back in a week or two? Perhaps not, but this offense is explosive enough to support two elite wide receivers.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba just deserves a mention every week for potentially being the top wide receiver in fantasy football this season. After injuries to Puka Nacua and Emeka Egbuka this week, JSN may be about to carry the mantle of 2025’s best wideout. He torched the Jacksonville Jaguars for another 163 yards and a touchdown.

Sophomores Ladd McConkey and Brian Thomas Jr. both scored 19 fantasy points, both found the end zone, and both had their best fantasy production days of the season in Week 6. These are two highly drafted players who have needed a jolt of energy in the right direction, so hopefully this was the wake-up call they needed to finish the season strong.

Trey McBride caught another touchdown! This only happened twice in 2024, and now that is two already in 2025, with no Marvin Harrison Jr. for most of this game. McBride got back to his old tricks with eight catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Dud Players

Which players disappointed fantasy managers the most in Week 6?

Tua Tagovailoa was in a prime matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers for an offensive shootout, but instead, he fired blanks. Or maybe more accurately, he fired passes right at the defense all game. Tua finished with just 205 passing yards and three more interceptions. That’s now seven interceptions already on the season.

Quinshon Judkins was on a roll with at least 13 fantasy points in three straight games, but ran into a buzzsaw with the Pittsburgh defense this week. He rushed for just 36 yards on 12 carries and did not factor into the passing game.

If you told me the Indianapolis Colts were going to score 31 points against Arizona, I would say Michael Pittman Jr. absolutely would be in my lineup. But he disappointed everyone today with just two catches for 20 yards. Hopefully, it’s just a blip on the radar with this newfound pass-happy offense.

Hunter Henry was not a part of the New England Patriots’ passing party either. But they seemed to be fine without him, even if fantasy football managers wanted a lot more in a high-scoring game than three catches for 27 yards. After a couple of elite games, this is now back-to-back weeks with fewer than six points for Henry.

Thud Players

Which players can we shove off our fantasy rosters after Week 6?

TreVeyon Henderson just scored six or fewer fantasy points for the fourth time in five games. He touched the ball just 10 times for 36 total yards, and Rhamondre Stevenson ran the ball more despite extreme inefficiency. Henderson looked like a nice rookie coming out of Ohio State, but the Patriots clearly have just a change-of-pace role planned for him instead of a bell cow role we all envisioned.

Jauan Jennings just admitted on Sunday that he is playing with five (FIVE!) broken ribs as well as high and low ankle sprains. Knowing that and seeing how Jennings caught one ball for seven yards in the San Francisco offense, I would be fine dropping him in shallow leagues for better, more consistent names on the bench.

The Juwan Johnson experiment was fun while it lasted, but this is now three weeks in a row with fewer than eight fantasy points. On Sunday, Johnson was targeted just two times, his lowest of the season. It was great for the first few weeks of the season, but it’s time to hop off the Juwan Johnson train. Taysom Hill being back certainly doesn’t help either.

Bad Blood Players

Which players’ injuries are worth monitoring after Week 6?

Marvin Harrison Jr. was ruled out of Sunday’s game with a concussion after hitting his head on the turf in the second quarter. Harrison will now have to go through the concussion protocol in order to be able to play in Week 7. In his absence, Zay Jones would be the beneficiary.

Puka Nacua made the entire fantasy football world hold its collective breath during the Los Angeles Rams game on Sunday. Puka Nacua left with an ankle injury, and while he tried to go back in, he was eventually ruled out for the game that the Rams won. The team should provide more feedback on the severity just as soon as they can this week.

Following the London game, it was first reported that Garrett Wilson suffered a hip injury, but that was later changed to a knee injury. Wilson will apparently have an MRI on his knee, although the team does not believe it is an ACL injury. With the team flying back home, it will be a couple of days before we get a definitive answer.

Calvin Ridley was quickly ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. After the game, Coach Brian Callahan said Ridley could not run or move well on the leg, and it was wrapped for the rest of the game. Now we wait and see if this will be a multi-week absence or if Ridley can recover for Week 7.

Emeka Egbuka also suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday that forced him out of the game after just two catches for 24 yards. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already dealing with injuries to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan, and now wait to find out if their prized rookie receiver will miss more time.
