The Texans have placed WR Nico Collins, the NFL's leading receiver on Injured Reserve. He's out four games.

Hutchinson came in and basically played Collins' role for the rest of Week 5, but he is obviously not going to demand the same type of target share. He can be added in deeper leagues, but we expect Diggs, Dell, and Schultz to take a majority of the extra usage.

The 49ers have found a kicker to replace the injured Jake Moody.

Per multiple reports, San Francisco has signed Matthew Wright.

Wright, 28, had a short stint with San Francisco’s practice squad early last year, though he did not appear in a game.

Moody is dealing with an ankle injury and there is no word how long Moody could be out. Wright should be a decent kicking option for fantasy lineups given the overall potential of the Niners offense. San Francisco is at Seattle on Thursday night.

Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice will have surgery on Tuesday to determine the extent of the knee injury that he suffered eight days ago. Via multiple reports, he got some good news on Monday.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Rice might have avoided a torn ACL. He nevertheless needs to have an LCL repair.

As Rapoport characterizes it, Rice’s season “is expected to be over.” Separately, Rapoport says that Rice could miss “potentially three months” due to the LCL repair. That timeline would not end his season.

The news is starting to get a little more clear for Rice. Best case seems to be a return for the playoffs in three months. As the story said, Rice has eight felony accounts lurking. Florio went on to say that now that Rice will be sidelined due to injury, it makes sense to resolve the charges and take the suspension this year. While he would still lose his game checks, he would not lose the ability to play any more games than the injury will cause him to miss, the story pointed out.

Texans now have changed Nico Collins’ injury designation from “day to day” to “week to week.”

We reported earlier today that Collins was listed as day to day, which was a much better sign for his Week 6 status. However the week to week status makes more sense, as far as hamstring injuries go. This designation is likely going to make it tougher for Collins to play in Week 6.

This seems like good news for his status for Week 6, and day to day seems like it at least gives him a shot to suit up for what is an early afternoon game at New England. Practice reports later this week should give us a better idea.

Texans RB Joe Mixon, who missed both practices thus far this week, is not expected to play Sunday. That means the duo of Cam Akers (4.1 yards per rush) and Dare Ogunbowale (game-winning TD) once again.

It seemed as if Mixon was trending toward playing in Week 5, but he and Dameon Pierce look like they're out. In that case, we're lining up for another Akers week, which would put him in the RB2 radar against a Bills defense that has been gashed by the run through the first month of the season.

Akins performed well enough during Njoku's absence but not enough to get him on to fantasy radars. If Njoku plays in Week 5, he should re-take his spot in the lower-end TE1 range.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that the plan is for Nick Chubb to take the next step in his return from last year’s knee injury.

Chubb is on the physically unable to perform list and his return to practice will kick off a three-week window for him to work with the team before reaching a deadline to activate him, the story said. There is no word yet just how soon, if at all, Chubb will get back on the field and be ready for game action. According to the story, Stafanski went on to say, “Won’t get too far down the road on that,” Stefanski said, via Zac Jackson of TheAthletic.com. “He’s working very hard. Natural progression is for him to start practicing . . . we’ll see how he goes from there.”
