Things aren't looking good for George Kittle to return for the 49ers in Week 2, stemming from a groin injury suffered ahead of the team's opening game in Chicago.

Unlike other situations around the league (the Raiders, for example) there is no plug-and-play option for the 49ers in regards to the tight end position. The team schemes plays for George Kittle himself, not necessarily the position. Trey Lance can run himself into fantasy relevance regardless, but his ceiling is lowered without one of the best play-making TEs in the league, if Kittle were to miss another week of action.

Kittle didn't play in Week 1 after being listed as questionable. However he didn't practice all last week and this week now isn't off to a good start. It was a sloppy Week 1 game but the Niners didn't get much out of their TE position as Kroft and Dwelley each had one catch.

Zach Wilson participated in practice on Wednesday for the first time since he hurt his knee in August. Wilson had meniscus surgery four weeks ago to address the injury and has been rehabbing away from the field until this week.

Flacco was already announced as the starter for Week 2. Saleh said before the opener that Wilson won’t be available until at least Week 4. Sticking to that plan would give Wilson three weeks of practice before he would make his 2022 debut against the Steelers, the story concluded. Flacco was nearly pulled in Week 1 and the crowd was chanting for White to replace him. Flacco may not make it to Wilson's return.

New York fans chanted Mike White's name during Sunday's season-opening loss to the Ravens, but the Jets aren't planning a quarterback change for Week 2.

Veteran Joe Flacco, who replaced injured Zach Wilson, will start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, a source told ESPN.

Wilson could be out for at least one more week with a possible Week 4 return. As the story pointed out, Flacco struggled in Week 1 against the Ravens and his lack of mobility stood out. Those wanting to back up Wilson in deeper leagues or dynasty leagues may want to keep an eye on White.

The tweet quoted Shanahan as saying he, "Was hoping [Kittle would] be good today, did little Monday, we’ll have to see day by day." Owners will want to monitor this leading up to Sunday. Kroft and Dwelley are up next on the depth chart. The 9ers do have an early game at Chicago in Week 1 so owners will be able to adjust.

Jameis Winston sprained his right foot during the Saints' practice on August 8th, causing him to miss the team's first two preseason games. Returning to practice is a significant step towards a full return.

The article mentions that he had both of his feet "heavily taped" but could still move around normally. Winston isn't known for his wheels, so as long as his lower body is structurally sound, it shouldn't affect his game too much. If he is forced to miss time, we would presumably see veteran Andy Dalton man the quarterback position, but Winston will offer a higher upside for the Saints pass-catchers.

This is clearly a detriment to Zach Wilson's sophomore season if the tests come back positive. If the baton gets passed to Mike White, we could see some extreme short-yardage usage for the running back tandem of Breece Hall and Michael Carter

The San Francisco 49ers are signing TE Tyler Kroft to a one-year deal.

Kroft will compete for snaps alongside/behind George Kittle, which means a reduced role for the veteran. Kittle's injury history does put Kroft in play as a waiver wire pick-up during the season, and Kroft has had the most success amongst the remaining tight ends with the 49ers.

The New Orleans Saints are signing QB Andy Dalton to a one-year deal.

Dalton will back up Winston. His signing also means the Saints probably see Ian Book as nothing more than a clipboard holder.

The Carolina Panthers have agreed to a contract with RB D'Onta Foreman.

Foreman did well when Derrick Henry was lost for the season in Tennessee. He now will look to continue his revival by competing with Hubbard for the back-up role in Carolina.
