Draft note
by John Paulsen
Hall joins Michael Carter in the Jets’ backfield, but Hall figures to have the inside track to lead the team in touches since the Jets used a second round pick to get him one year after drafting Carter. Hall has three-down upside and could turn into a bellcow back at some point. However, Carter’s impressive play as a rookie likely means this will be some sort of timeshare with the two players, limiting Hall’s upside as the lead back.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
All signs are pointing to Breece Hall being the No. 1 running back in New York. He was the first running back taken in the draft as the Jets traded up and used a second round pick to select the Iowa State product. Hall's college production speaks for itself with 3,000+ rushing yards and 56 touchdowns. Running backs have had more success transitioning to the NFL than other positions and Hall is physically big and strong enough to be a factor immediately and possibly as a three-down back,.

2022 Fantasy Downside
New offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur is a Shanahan offensive philosophy pupil who tends to go with running backs by committee. Last year, rookie Michael Carter had a strong season so he should still be in the mix. That would take touches away from Hall. There is also the Jets factor which basically says the offense will continue to be in the bottom third of the NFL.

2022 Bottom Line
We expect Hall to live up to expectations in 2022 and be the lead running back for the Jets. He should get 200 carries and has a chance to get to the 1,000 yard rushing plateau. Many fantasy managers are buying into him as he is going off the board in the 5th or 6th round. It's not out of the question for him to be your RB2 this season and if you can grab him as your RB3, you will have a steal. This of course is predicated on the Jets offense continuing to improve under second-year coach Robert Saleh and QB Zach Wilson.
