The Arizona Cardinals are preparing quarterback Kyler Murray to start Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday. Murray missed Arizona's past two games with a foot injury and was able to rest it longer during the Cardinals' bye last week.

Murray's in a great spot to come into fantasy relevance against a Cowboys defense that ranks dead last in QB aFPA. Even if Murray doesn't scramble around a ton with a rehabbing foot, he should still be in easy consideration as a QB1.

The Cardinals released veteran RB Michael Carter, per the wire.

Carter wasn't impressive despite getting the starting nod a couple of weeks. The Cards will go with Knight as their top back and Demercado, at least for now, looks to slide into the RB2 role. Benson will miss at least one more week on IR, but has a chance to come back for Week 10.

Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr., who is in concussion protocol this week, is off the injury report and good to go Sunday versus the Packers.

MHJ will get Jacoby Brissett throwing him the ball this week, but it's arguable whether or not that's actually a downgrade from Kyler Murray. Consider Harrison a WR3 for Week 7.

During open part of Cardinals practice Kyler Murray working but with PS pass catchers. Jacoby Brissett and Slovis with regular pass catchers. Murray looks OK throwing, however.

Brissett looks like he'll be in line for the start, as he's been with the No. 1 offense all week. He'll get a tough matchup against the Packers' defense, though, so he should stay off fantasy radars in most leagues.

The Cardinals' offense has (once again) looked pretty mediocre, even with Brissett throwing for 300+ yards last week. Murray obviously adds more with his legs, but the Packers defense could end up making either one of them a moderate fantasy play in Week 7.

Jonathan Gannon had no interest in the inevitable questions.

Will Kyler Murray remain the starting quarterback when he returns from his foot injury?

“Yeah.”

Why?

“He’s the starting quarterback.”

If you watched the Cardinals game you maybe couldn't help but notice the offense did seem to run a bit smoother with Brissett under center, even though the team fell to the Colts 31-37. Brissett threw for 320 yards and two TDs in the loss, he even ran for 19 more yards. It's possible Murray has to miss at least one more week according to some reports, so Brissett could get another chance, and it's another tough challenge against the Packers. The Cardinals do have a bye in Week 8.

Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is being evaluated for a concussion.

Update: Harrison has been ruled out.

Harrison is questionable to return after taking a hit to the head in the second quarter. The Cardinals are already dealing with a number of injuries on the offense, including QB Kyler Murray and RB Trey Benson. Zay Jones and Michael Wilson are the next receivers up.

Petzing said that after rewatching the game, he felt like he didn’t do enough to get the ball to Marvin Harrison Jr. down the stretch:

“Going back and looking at it, I think there’s maybe a couple things I could’ve done differently.”

It's almost silly to post this as news, but it's maybe - just maybe - a sign Harrison will get fed a little more heading into Week 6. There were reports in the offseason QB Kyler Murray and Harrison worked on their connection, and while things are maybe slightly better to start the 2025 season, owners of both were likely hoping for more up to this point.
