Still no update on Patriots Week 9 QB situation with Drake Maye in protocol

Patriots OC Alex Van Pelt says the team is going into the week open-minded about the QB situation.

Van Pelt says he's very hopeful that things keep going the way they're progressing with rookie QB Drake Maye in concussion protocol.

Otherwise, Van Pelt won't discuss injuries.

Fantasy Impact:

Looks like they're going to run this down to the wire after it was announced that Maye is in "phase three" of the five-phase protocol yesterday. If Brissett gets the start, all New England fantasy options get a downgrade.

Week 17 vs San Francisco 49ers

Jacoby Brissett once again stepped in for a struggling Sam Howell last week, and he looked much more efficient completing 10 of his 13 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Brissett has looked great in mop-up duty the past two weeks, so much so that he's taken over the starting role for Week 17. He's looked so good that he could be a tempting option at QB this week, until you realize he's playing the 49ers (7th aFPA). Brissett might have a lot of pass attempts this week in a game that has blowout potential, but he's a hard option to trust in most people's championship week in fantasy. We'd likely look elsewhere for your QB needs in Week 17.
