Zay Flowers
2026 Draft note
John Paulsen
Lane's trajectory has shifted since draft night. What was projected as a deep-depth role has become a genuine top-three opportunity, driven by an excellent training camp and a direct endorsement from Lamar Jackson himself: "This guy is different." The college profile is encouraging. Lane posted a 93rd-percentile PFF receiving grade (81.8) and 86th-percentile yards per route run (2.42) at USC, winning primarily from the boundary. The concerns are real: a 7.5% drop rate, a 37th-percentile contested catch rate, and below-average YAC suggest he needs the ball placed accurately and isn't a great playmaker after the catch. The Rashod Bateman situation adds another wrinkle. The domestic assault accusation was followed by the accuser recanting, so it appears Bateman will remain in the picture and it won't be easy for a rookie to send him to the bench. Regardless, the WR2 role in this offense has historically been a fantasy dead zone, because the Ravens run the ball, lean on Lamar's legs, and funnel receiving targets through Zay Flowers and the tight end position. At WR65, he's a late-round dart throw: great camp buzz, opportunity win the WR2 role, good quarterback. But the floor is real.
