The Rams first held Cam Akers out of practice on Oct. 14 citing “personal reasons,” and they have held him out of practice and games since. Coach Sean McVay, who initially called the situation an “internal” matter, later publicly confirmed the Rams were working to trade Akers.

It's hard to imagine Akers will immediately return to a featured role in Week 9 but the backfield is trending back towards a giant headache. The article confirms that the team was actively trying to trade the young RB but didn't receive any "realistic" offers.

Akers has been inactive the past two games for what the team called personal reasons. Pelissero included in his tweet that the Rams turned down multiple offers for Akers before Tuesday's trade deadline. This will only further muddy the Rams RB situation. Henderson, Brown and Rivers have been getting work to this point but no one has stood out. Williams is poised to return and could end up the one having some fantasy value, but right now this is a situation to stay away from unless we get more clarity.

There was no sign of WR Davante Adams, who missed Wednesday with an illness, at start of practice Thursday.

It's good news that it's an illness and still relatively early in the week. Hunter Renfrow has been gearing back up so he and Darren Waller would be the likely beneficiaries on the off-chance Adams is forced to miss Week 8.

Sean McVay said RB Cam Akers won't practice today and he doesn't expect him to be out with the team this week.

The Rams are looking to trade the RB and give him a fresh start. Although the team hasn't ruled out a return, it doesn't look likely at this point. Henderson and Brown look like they'll share RB duties, at least until Williams returns.

Based on Kyren Williams’ reps with the first-team offense in joint practices against Cincinnati this summer, then McVay’s effusive praise following those reps, I think Williams figures to have a big role when he’s back.

This makes a lot of sense given the status of Akers likely not being part of the team going forward. Williams is still on IR, however, so we're a bit away from seeing what Williams can do. But Henderson hasn't been that impressive in his lead back role. The story said Williams is probably not going to be a high-volume power-yards guy, but he sees the levels of McVay’s outside zone well and can work into the passing game.

Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been charged with misdemeanor assault for shoving a credentialed media worker after Monday's loss in Kansas City to the Chiefs.

Adams was cited for an "intentional, overt act" that inflicted "bodily injury," according to court records released Wednesday, the story said. The man shoved by Adams suffered whiplash, a headache and a possible minor concussion from the incident, according to records. He was working for ESPN's Monday Night Football as a freelance photographer. Adams did apologize after the incident but he could be facing fines and a possible suspension from the NFL, it was reported earlier this week.

It wasn't a pretty scene. As Adams was leaving the field and heading to the tunnel, a cameraman got in his way and Adams pushed him down. The league is reviewing the situation. Adams apologized through the media and again on Twitter fairly quickly after the incident, but we'll have to see if that helps his cause. The Raiders have a bye in Week 6.

Rams rookie running back Kyren Williams is set to miss a chunk of time after having surgery to repair a high-ankle sprain he suffered in the season opener and the team announced on Tuesday that he’ll be going on injured reserve as he recovers.

Williams will miss at least four games as a result of going on the list and word last Friday was that he should miss 6-8 weeks. Williams was injured covering a kickoff on the only snap he played in his first NFL regular season game.

After Akers disappeared in Week 1, many thought Williams could eventually get some work out of the backfield for the Rams. That will at least be put on hold until he's back. With Akers seemingly in the doghouse, it looks like Henderson should be the team's RB1 at least for now.

Even with Kyren Williams leaving the game in the first quarter with a high-ankle sprain, teammate Cam Akers only garnered 12 snaps in the team's opening game.

The only remaining back on the Rams roster is Jake Funk, 2021's seventh-round pick. Darrell Henderson would finish Week 1 out-touching Cam Akers 18-3, controlling a huge portion of the backfield.

ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano believes the lingering elbow injury for Rams QB Matthew Stafford could be an issue all season long.

"My impression of this situation is that it affects Stafford's practice schedule all year and could also, obviously, affect his performance on Sundays," wrote Graziano. "He's tough enough that it's fair to believe it won't affect his availability for Sundays, but this is a guy who already led the league in interceptions last year. We sure an elbow problem isn't going to mess with him at all?"

Stafford has battled through injuries numerous times throughout his career, so we know he'll play. In fact, he even said he has "no limitations" on his arm, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. Head coach Sean McVay said there are no plans to change up the way the team manages Stafford during the season. The Rams sure sound very confident in the health of Stafford, who is currently QB12 on Underdog draft boards.
