Another major move in Las Vegas: The Raiders are expected to start rookie QB Aidan O'Connell this week and going forward, with Jimmy Garoppolo going to the bench. The promising O’Connell now gets his shot.

Things are getting spicy in Vegas. O'Connell should be able to move the ball down the field better than Garoppolo was able to on Monday Night Football, and will hopefully bring Jakobi Meyers and Davante Adams back into fantasy relevance.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford is day to day with a UCL sprain, per coach Sean McVay.

Stafford's status for Week 9 is up in the air as of now, but overall it's pretty good news for the QB and his fantasy owners. It will likely come down to how Stafford is able to grip the ball and perhaps any pain that may be involved. Stafford is as tough as they come, so it may be an issue of how much zip he can put on the ball. If he can't go, Rypien would get the start. The Rams do play an early game at Green Bay in Week 9, but the team does have a Week 10 bye.

The Rams are evaluating a range of potential scenarios with QB Matthew Stafford and his thumb injury, per source, and he’ll have further testing plus assessment on how he’s gripping the ball through the week.

Rodrigue said the team is pretty much looking at everything, including possible colder conditions in Green Bay in Week 9 - as far as gripping the ball goes. The Rams also have a bye in Week 10. Rodrigue added the team is considering the short term, but the Rams are also not ruling out injured reserve at this point, as they are still gathering information that helps discern a larger timeline for Stafford. Rypien came on in relief of Stafford in Week 8 and could be the assumed starter if Stafford has to miss Week 9. The team drafted Bennett this past spring.

Rams QB Brett Rypien is now in against the Cowboys as Matthew Stafford remains in the locker room with a thumb injury.

It's a passing-hand thumb injury for Stafford, who was 13/22 for 162 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a two-point reception (we're not kidding). Maybe the Rams are just saving Stafford as Dallas has been in control all day long, taking a 36-17 lead to the fourth quarter.

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Saturday that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is “good to go” for Monday night against the Lions. Brian Hoyer got the start last week against the Bears as Garoppolo missed with a back injury. It went about as well as you’d expect. The Raiders have their guy back but he’ll face an angry Lions team that got completely tamed by the Ravens last week. Jimmy G just cracks our top 25 this week.

Jimmy Garoppolo will be back at practice on Thursday for the Raiders. Barring any setbacks looks like he's on-line to play against the Lions on Monday.

If you buy into the squeaky wheel narrative, this is incredible news for Davante Adams. Jimmy G himself isn't on typical 1QB radars this week though.

Head coach Josh McDaniels was asked at a Monday press conference how close Jimmy Garoppolo was to getting back from his back injury for the Chicago game. He declined to put a number on it, but said that there’s hope about his ability to get back for next Monday night.

“That’s a medical thing,” McDaniels said. “I wouldn’t be able to put a percentage on that. I know he’s doing well, but that’s something they’ll let us know when it’s turned a corner. I’m hoping for this week, but I don’t have clarification yet.”

As the story said, Hoyer was 17-of-32 for 129 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by O’Connell. O’Connell started a game earlier this year when Garoppolo had a concussion, but McDaniels said he didn’t second guess the choice to go with Hoyer Sunday.

The Rams are placing RB Kyren Williams on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Williams will miss at least four games as a result. He'll be eligible to return for Week 12 against the Cardinals -- the Rams have their bye in Week 10. Rookie Zach Evans could stand to lead the Rams' backfield in Williams' absence with Royce Freeman, Myles Gaskin and Darrell Henderson (who was promoted from the practice squad) also in the mix. The Steelers are a nice matchup for the Rams running backs, but the picture could get muddy for fantasy purposes. Evans is an RB3 this week while Freeman and Henderson are deeper options.

Rams’ RB Darrell Henderson Jr. will be promoted off the practice squad for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers. “Darrell came back in; he's a guy that's going to be up and active this week,” said Rams’ HC Sean McVay. “He's done a great job of being able to quickly re-acclimate himself back to a lot of the things that we've done; he's taking good care of himself in the meantime.”

This sounds like pretty awful news for those of us who rushed to the waiver wire to snatch up Zach Evans this week. McVay has been very giving to his RB1 in recent memory, but we have quite a logjam at the position now, particularly after this Henderson promotion. It's going to be difficult to start any of these options in Week 7.

Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bears.

Despite Garoppolo having a mediocre season to this point, this is bad news for all Raiders fantasy pieces, including Davante Adams. No word yet whether backup would start in Jimmy G's steed, but neither should be started in fantasy.
