Hunter Renfrow is officially out for Week 3 with a concussion while teammate Josh Jacobs is questionable with an illness.

Renfrow has far and away led the team in slot routes through two weeks and is one of only three WRs who have received a target thus far in the season. Mack Hollins is the best bet to fill much of the Renfrow role with a semi-promotion possibly going to Tyron Johnson.

This is, of course, a bold prediction. But it also comes from a very reliable source and comes with Josh Jacobs trending in the wrong direction.

The Raiders are currently carrying five running backs (plus a fullback), so if Jacobs really loses this much ground game work to rookie Zamir White, the veteran's fantasy season is going to be miserable. Amongst those other running backs resides Brandon Bolden, who has a rich history of catching passes out of the backfield in a Josh McDaniels offense.

Raiders beat writer Maurice Morton added to Pelissero's tweet that he's "not surprised about this." He said Abdullah hasn’t played the last 2 preseason games and he clearly surpassed Drake on the Raiders RB depth chart. In his eyes, the depth chart goes: Jacobs, White, Abdullah and Bolden. Drake could catch on somewhere else but his role may not be as significant as it once was.

Josh McDaniels reiterated today that he is not exploring a trade to ship Jacobs out of Las Vegas.

This is probably worse in fantasy land than if they simply found him a new home. It certainly raised some eyebrows when veteran Jacobs got some run in the Hall of Fame Game last week, a contest typically reserved for backups and players fighting for a spot on the roster, not RB1s. The Raiders already had Kenyan Drake in Jacobs' RB room before the team added Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden, and fourth-round pick Zamir White. Jacobs is getting squeezed in every direction, but most discouraging, in the receiving game, where he doubled his career reception total in 2021 en route to his RB16 finish.

Rookie running back Zamir White has impressed after missing the first two days of camp with an undisclosed injury.

“He’s tough, has good contact balance, and you can see the growth in a new system,” running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu said.

Jacobs finished RB16 last season with the 19th-highest per game production. He was RB9/RB13 the previous year. He was 13th in touches per game in 2021, so the workload was there despite so-so efficiency. He’s the RB22 off the board in early drafts, which makes some sense given the arrival of new HC Josh McDaniels, who ran an offense in New England that regularly featured multiple backs in various roles.

Expect the same leading up to their game against Cincinnati, especially with cold weather expected.

As a result, he is out for the season. Drake was the team’s second-leading rusher. Richard and Barber will get work behind Jacobs going forward. Both are a Jacobs injury away from more significant playing time and those in deeper leagues may want to take a chance.

Jacobs is truly questionable as he popped up on the injury report Thursday, while Jackson practiced for the first time this week on Friday.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is out for the rest of today’s game against the Eagles with a chest injury.

Jacobs finished with six carries for 29 yards and a touchdown. Fortunately for the Raiders, the rest of their offense has been playing very well as well as they are dominating the Eagles. Also fortunately for Jacobs, the Raiders are off next week, giving him some extra rest time before the team returns November 7 against the Giants.
