Jalen Hurts came back from the bye week with a vengeance, throwing four touchdowns and running roughshod over an overmatched Steelers defense. Derrick Henry was in a smash spot against the terrible Texans run defense and paid off as an optimal option from last week’s article. Alvin Kamara crushed the Raiders to the tune of three touchdowns on his way to 42.8 DK points. Speaking of players who went for three touchdowns, A.J. Brown caught three of his own and was a shoestring tackle away from a fourth! Rounding out the winning lineup was Tyreek Hill. He didn’t get a touchdown in Week 8, but 12 for 188 was enough for a WR3 finish to get the win.

I already mentioned Henry as paying off, but let’s quickly run through the rest of last week’s recommendations. Josh Allen finished as the QB11. A bigger game was there but he threw two interceptions on overconfident attempts into coverage. Cooper Kupp was once again the lone bright spot for the Rams' offense but his 22.9 DK points were only good for WR9 on the week. Still solid, but far from optimal. The entire Cincinnati Bengals’ offense was inept on Monday night so I can’t blame it all on Tee Higgins. He did save his fantasy day with a late 40-yard touchdown down the sideline but his 13.9-point WR23 finish wasn’t enough to bring home the money. Saquon Barkley also disappointed in a top-five matchup for running backs, but Daniel Jones had a terrible game and derailed the entire offense. Barkley finished as RB16 on the week with 15.2 DK points. Not good enough! From our value plays, DJ Moore was the best call. He cost the Panthers a win with his touchdown celebration but he helped his fantasy managers by scoring 30.5 DK points, the fifth-highest total from a wide receiver in Week 8! Let’s move on and take a look at the best plays for Week 9.

Optimal Options

If money is no object, here are the best plays at each starting spot based on the Week 9 rankings over at 4for4.

Patrick Mahomes, QB KC (Elite FP: $785, Rare FP: $94)

Mahomes is the number two ranked quarterback on the week at 4for4 and is projected to score 26.4 DK points. Coming off their Week 8 bye, Kansas City is an 11.5-point home favorite against the Tennesee Titans. Tennessee is giving up the seventh-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position. The Chiefs have a 29-point implied team total, the third-highest of the week.

Austin Ekeler, RB LAC (Elite FP: $545, Rare FP: $60)

Ekeler is the number one ranked running back at 4for4 and is projected to score 25.8 DK points. Coming off their Week 8 bye, Los Angeles is an early three-point road favorite against the Atlanta Falcons who are giving up the ninth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position and gave up the RB5 overall finish in Week 8 to D'Onta Foreman. The Chargers have a 26-point implied team total, the fourth-highest of the week.

Justin Jefferson, WR MIN (Elite FP: $659, Rare FP: $53)

Jefferson is the number four ranked wide receiver at 4for4 and is projected to score 24.8 DK points with the 100-yard bonus. Minnesota is an early three-and-a-half point road favorite against the Washington Commanders who are giving up the third-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position. The Vikings have a 23.5-point implied team total, the 12th-highest of the week.

Travis Kelce, TE KC (Elite FR: $785 Rare FP: $95)

Kelce is the number one ranked tight end at 4for4 and is projected to score 22.5 DK points. The Tennessee Titans are giving up the 10th-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Kelce is the only tight end worth playing over a wide receiver in the WR/TE spot.

Davante Adams WR OAK (Elite FP: $430, Rare FP: $35)

Adams is the number eight ranked wide receiver at 4for4 and is projected to score 17.9 DK points. After a huge disappointment in Week 8 in which the Raiders got blanked by the Saints, Adams is due for a bounceback against the Jaguars. Las Vegas is a one-point road favorite against the Jacksonville Jaguars who are giving up the eighth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position. The Raiders have a 24.25-point implied team total, the tenth-highest of the week.

Value Plays

Trevor Lawrence, QB JAX (Elite FP: $275, Rare FP: $32)

Lawrence is ranked as the QB14 this week by 4for4 and is projected to score 20 DK points. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a one-point home dog against the Las Vegas Raiders who are giving up the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points in the league to the position. The Jaguars have a 23.25-point implied team total, the 14th-highest of the week.

Miles Sanders RB, PHI (Elite FP: $399, Rare: $39)

Sanders is ranked 16th among running backs by 4for4 and is projected to score 15.4 DK points. Philadelphia is an early 14-point road favorite against the Houston Texans who are giving up the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position. Derrick Henry scored 38.8 DK points against this team just last week. The Eagles have a 29.5-point implied team total, the second-highest of the week.

UPDATE:

On Friday Keenan Allen was declared out once again so I wanted to come back to this with an update for you guys.

Josh Palmer, WR LAC (Elite FP: $199, Rare FP: $24)

With both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams out for Week 9, we turn to Josh Palmer. He is ranked as the WR21 by 4for4 and is projected to score 11.6 DK points. The Falcons are giving up the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
