Squirrel’s Nuts & Bolts: Bears - Seahawks MNF Showdown Strategy (Week 8 NFL DFS)
Week 8 of the NFL season wraps up with an NFC Showdown between the Bears and the Seahawks at Lumen Field. Kickoff is 8:15 PM ET, and the Seahawks are favored by 3.5 points at home, with the total set at 46.5 points. It’s the first time this season the Bears have been underdogs in a game Caleb Williams starts.
The Bears are 5-2 and come in with extra rest after a 30-24 win over the Patriots on Thursday night in Week 7. Williams has started four games since returning from a hamstring injury that cost him three, and he is completing 71.0% of his passes, second in the league, with 1,020 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception, plus 128 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The Bears lead the league with 154.3 rushing yards per game and are third in total yards. D'Andre Swift is 11th in the league with 476 rushing yards; he has seven rushing touchdowns, and he has scored in all three games without Kyle Monangai (toe), who is out for a fourth straight game. Luther Burden III leads the team with 47 targets and 491 receiving yards, including 12 catches for 225 yards and a touchdown over the last two games, and Colston Loveland has at least 65 receiving yards and a touchdown in each of those two games with Cole Kmet out for the season.
The Seahawks are 4-3 after a 20-3 win over the Chiefs, and the defense is the story in Seattle: it leads the league in both total yards allowed (233.9 per game) and passing yards allowed (144.4 per game). The offense hasn’t kept up. Sam Darnold has 1,290 passing yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions; his 80.5 passer rating ranks 24th, and the running game is averaging 3.9 yards per carry with Kenneth Walker III gone. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the exception. He leads the league with 867 receiving yards, is second with 58 receptions, and has eight touchdowns, and he has more than four times the receiving yards of any teammate, with Rashid Shaheed (knee) out again. The backfield gets a makeover tonight: Zach Charbonnet makes his season debut after tearing his ACL in January, and rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price returns from a four-game absence with a chest injury, joining Emanuel Wilson, who has 111 carries for 403 yards and three touchdowns as the fill-in. Left tackle Charles Cross is out with a high ankle sprain.
This Showdown gives us a 46.5-point total, the league’s leading receiver against a Bears defense that is last in the league in yards per play allowed, and a Seattle backfield with three backs and no defined roles. Let’s break down this Monday night NFC Showdown, highlight the key plays, and uncover the strategies that could help you climb the leaderboards.
