The Training Room: Week 13 Injury Updates

The injury bug was relatively quiet during Week 12, but there were some proiminent players with big time fantasy implications that were injured that will be cause for concern heading into Week 13. With fantasy playoffs only one week away, you'll need to keep an eye on these injuries closely to ensure that you are making the right moves to put your team either in position to maintain your playoff spot or to try and sneak in.

Melvin Gordon RB Chargers Sprained MCL RULED OUT FOR WEEK 13 Austin Ekeler Gordon was never expected to play this week and could be sidelined for another few weeks before he attempts to make his return before the regular season ends. We'll continue to update his status as more information becomes available.
A.J. Green WR Bengals Turf Toe Removed from injury report Tyler Boyd, John Ross Green has been getting in full practices to the point where the Bengals completely took him off the injury report, which is a great sign that he's likely over the big toe issue. The main concern is whether or not he gets tackled or runs a route that puts excess stress on that tissue that could re-aggravate it. Regardless, if you have Green you are inserting him back into your lineup even with Driskell at the helm.
Stefon Diggs WR Vikings Sprained Knee Questionable for Week 13 Laquan Treadwell, Aldrick Robinson Diggs has not practiced much this week due to a knee injury. Although he only practiced on Friday, the Vikings still expect Diggs to play against the Patriots. The knee may limit his performance on the field and the Vikings may choose to scale back his snaps depending on how his knee feels, but in a big game against the Patriots, Diggs will likely try and gut it out.
Marlon Mack RB Colts Concussion Questionable for Week 13 Nyheim Hines Mack was able to practice fully the last two days, but still has not gained clearance by the independent Neurologist. He'll likely be cleared tomorrow morning before the game against the Jaguars, but you're going to need to check back to be sure.
Josh Adams RB Eagles Strained Hip Questionable for MNF Corey Clement Adams apparently hurt his hip on Saturday and the Eagles were forced to put him on the injury report. With the Eagles playong on Monday night, I would make sure you have a backup plan just in case Adams can't go.
Marvin Jones WR Lions Knee Bone Bruise Put on IR, OUT FOR SEASON Kenny Golladay Like we've discussed when Jones first got hurt, bone bruise injuries can be difficult to return from quickly and it sounds like Jones has not progressed like the Lions thought. He'll be fully healthy for next year barring any new information that he's dealing with any further complications with the knee.
Mitch Trubisky QB Bears Sprained AC Joint DOUBTFUL FOR WEEK 13 Chase Daniel Trubisky will sit out another game in hopes to being closer to 100% when he does return. Trubisky has started to throw again which is a good sign in his progression, but his status will still likely come down to the wire for his Week 14 availability.
Joe Flacco QB Ravens Strained Hip DOUBTFUL FOR WEEK Lamar Jackson Flacco did return to practice late in the week, but he has yet to be cleared to return to playing in a game. There's a good chance that Flacco will be ready to play starting next week, but if Jackson continues to win I can't see the Ravens re-inserting Flacco and breaking the momentum Jackson has generated the last few weeks.
Sammy Watkins WR Chiefs Sprained Foot OUT FOR WEEK 13 Chris Conley Watkins continues to struggle to get healthy due to a foot issue that has sidelined him for the past few weeks. Chris Conley filled in nicely for Watkins in his absence so I would expect the same if not more targets if the Chiefs decide to go more pass heavy with Kareem Hunt getting canned.
Andy Dalton QB Bengals Sprained Thumb Put on IR, OUT FOR SEASON Jeff Driskel I was hoping to possibly be wrong with regards to Dalton's thumb having ligament damage, but whenever an athlete goes to a hand specialist, it's never a good sign. Driskell will take over the rest of the season, and with the Bengals playoff chances slim to none, you wonder if they even bring back A.J. Green as well now that Dalton is out.
Kenyan Drake RB Dolphins Sprained Shoulder Removed from injury report Frank Gore Drake was removed from the injury report late in the week after he's been able to practice without much issue from the shoulder. Shoulder issues can be troublesome and could cause a reaggravaation, but Drake looks set to play Week 13 against the Bills.
Evan Engram TE Giants Strained Hamstring RULED OUT FOR WEEK 13 Rhett Ellison Engram's hamstring will be something to keep an eye on heading into Week 14 as there's no guarantee that he could be ready for Week 14.
Alex Collins RB Ravens Sprained Foot PLACED ON IR, OUT FOR SEASON Gus Edwards, Kenneth Dixons With Collins struggling to get healthy due to a foot issue, the Ravens decided to pull the plug on Collins and put him on IR. Even though Kenneth Dixon returns to the active roster, I would still expect Gus Edwards to handle the majority of the touches even though he's dealing with an ankle issue as well.
