The status will hold Edmonds out until Week 14 following three games and one bye week. Eno Benjamin and James Conner will handle the backfield for the Arizona Cardinals in the meantime.

James Conner should see a bump in work but Eno Benjamin figures to be the biggest beneficiary of this loss. He recently posted 39 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in a win over San Francisco.

The Cardinals were without QB Kyler Murray (ankle), WRs DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and Rondale Moore (concussion/neck), and RB Chase Edmonds (ankle) at Wednesday's practice.

The Cardinals have two more practices to hope for the best.

The tweet went on to say short-term IR could be in play for the dreaded high ankle sprain if today’s MRI confirms the injury. Edmonds hurt his ankle on the first play. Generally, these are 4-6 week injuries, according to Rapoport. Conner stepped up this past week and looks like he'll get an increased workload but Benjamin also got some work and scored a TD. With Edmonds potentially out a while, those in deeper leagues will note Benjamin is a Conner injury away seeing significant time.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (ribs) and Deebo Samuel (calf) are questionable for Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. Both are expected to play.

Keep an extra player available in case either were to miss.

Currently, Jeremy McNichols is the only other running back on Tennessee’s 53-man roster. But the club did just sign Adrian Peterson and D’Onta Foreman to its practice squad.

But coming in at midseason off the street at 36, there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready right away.

Peterson appeared in all 16 games, starting 10, for the Lions last year. He recorded 604 yards with seven touchdowns, also making 12 catches for 101 yards. He has the experience of being a bell-cow back, the story said. The Titans play the Rams on Sunday Night Football this week.

49ers LT Trent Williams (ankle) and WR Deebo Samuel (calf) will be monitored as this week goes on again, similar to last week, per Kyle Shanahan.

Samuel should be able to play in Week 9, but it's something that needs to be monitored. He'll likely log some limited practice sessions this week. The 49ers play a later Sunday afternoon game at home against the Cardinals.

The Titans are signing FA RB Adrian Peterson, putting him on the practice squad.

Peterson will need to get up to speed but should project to get a lot of the early down work with McNichols remaining a change of pace and passing down back. Some who follow the team feel McNichols is not an every down back so it's possible Peterson has low-end RB2 or RB3 fantasy value going forward as Henry is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. The trading deadline is Tuesday and it's possible the Titans make another move, but for now, Peterson is expected to eventually be elevated to the active roster. When last seen with the Lions, Peterson ran 156 times for 604 yards and seven TDs in 2020.

Rapoport's tweet went on to say six would be quite fast and eight is more likely. Either way, Tennessee expects Henry back this season. Six weeks may get Henry back for the start of fantasy playoffs but the eight-week mark would possibly bring him back for fantasy finals. This is a close call in redraft leagues and owners probably can't drop him just in case of a return before the season is over. In the meantime, McNichols is next up but he's more of a third down back. With about a day left until the trade deadline, it's possible the Titans make a move. Peterson has been mentioned as a free agent signing with other names like Ronald Jones and Marlon Mack being mentioned as trade candidates.

Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hip) is questionable for Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Ekeler was added to the injury report Thursday and has not practiced the past two days. Have another option ready - Chargers RB or other - ready for a late afternoon swap.

Titans RB Darrynton Evans was placed on IR for the second time this season, ending his 2021 campaign.
