Draft note
by John Paulsen
Edmonds is a prime Zero RB target playing behind Kenyan Drake, who is clearly talented but hasn’t yet proven that he can carry the load for a full season. Last year, Edmonds turned 72 touches into 408 yards and five touchdowns, and had a healthy 5.05 YPC in Arizona’s productive running game. If anything were to happen to Drake, Edmonds would likely see bellcow usage.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Chase Edmonds appeared to be coming on strong last year. With David Johnson slowed by injury, Edmonds ran for 126 yards and scored three touchdowns in Week 7 against the Giants. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry on the season, but after that October game in New York, he injured a hamstring and recorded just nine more carries while Arizona added Kenyan Drake to the backfield. The Cardinals traded Johnson for star receiver DeAndre Hopkins in the offseason, putting Edmonds in line to back up Drake in an offense that is looking explosive with last year's top pick, quarterback Kyler Murray, leading the way.

Fantasy Downside
Even though it appears Edmonds is in a good spot, he now finds himself dealing with the possibility of seventh-round pick Eno Benjamin cutting into his carries. "I just use that as motivation," Edmonds said. "That is the way it is in the NFL. Every draft pick is chosen to play at some point. It doesn't matter what round. It's just business. If you accept that and just worry about the things you can control, you'll be fine." A solid pass-catching prospect, Benjamin had 42 receptions in 2019, trailing only Clyde Edwards-Helaire for most in this year's class.

Fantasy Downside
While he's the logical handcuff for Drake investors, Benjamin's presence pushes Edmonds down the line a bit in terms of value compared to some of the other prime handcuff options.
