Veteran RB Austin Ekeler is signing with the Commanders on a two-year deal worth up to $11.43 million.

Fantasy Impact:

The Brian Robinson bellcow role lasted about two hours, but the Commanders backs have company now. Ekeler had clearly lost a step last season, but a veteran pass-catching presence in the backfield will be an obvious plus. Ekeler should carve out a role that puts him in RB2 conversation, while Robinson holds onto a goal-line role that makes him almost as fantasy viable.

Week 16 at New York Jets

Chris Rodriguez led Washington's running backs in carries last week with 10, finishing with 35 yards on the ground with no targets. Rodriguez has seen an increase in playing time with Brian Robinson inactive, although he's been splitting touches with Antonio Gibson. Robinson will likely be inactive once again this week, although neither Washington back has been too impressive. Rodriguez isn't much more than a desperation flex play vs. the Jets (27th aFPA) in Week 16.
