Arch Manning Leads the Way
The pressure is on at Texas, and Arch Manning looks like he is ready for the challenge. He is stepping in as the starting quarterback after sitting behind Quinn Ewers for the last two seasons. Manning got plenty of action last year as he had 9 touchdown passes while playing in 10 games for the Longhorns, who reached the College Football Playoff for the second straight season. Texas is one of the favorites to win it all in 2025, and how Ewers plays will have a big impact on the team's success.
Scouts like what they see, and Arch Manning looks like he has the tools to become a legitimate star at the next level. He can make all the throws and is a sneaky athlete who can make plays with his feet if he has to.
Nussmeier, Drew Allar Getting Buzz
Another quarterback who is in the running for the top pick is Garrett Nussmeier. He will also be facing lofty expectations in the fall after throwing for 4,052 yards with 29 touchdowns last season. Also, LSU has failed to reach the College Football Playoff with Brian Kelly, so we can expect the pressure to be on in Baton Rouge. In 2024, Nussmeier took over as the starter for Jayden Daniels, who went on to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. LSU went 9-4 in 2024 and won the Texas Bowl 44-31 over Baylor.
Drew Allar has put up solid numbers for Penn State over the last two seasons and led the Nittany Lions to within a game of the College Football Playoff National Championship. Penn State lost to Notre Dame, but Allar is back for his senior season in hopes of bringing the Nittany Lions a national title. Allar threw 24 touchdowns last season and has over 6,300 yards passing in his career. If he continues to develop, it is easy to see his stock soaring this fall as he will be playing in the spotlight often in the Big Ten.
