It's a good move by Las Vegas as the depth behind Josh Jacobs —who is still away from the team— was looking pretty thin. This is probably not very closely tied to Jacobs' holdout, so there's not much to take away here. Zamir White remains the "best" arbitrage pick for those looking to get a piece of this backfield.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, who hasn’t signed his franchise tender, was spotted this morning boarding a flight leaving Las Vegas. Jacobs won’t report for training camp Tuesday and has told people close to him that he doesn’t plan to return anytime soon.

The possibility of a holdout seems to be increasing by the week for Jacobs. Any of the above three can be concerned as late-round sprinkles at this point, with 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White the most intriguing.

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels says Josh Jacobs is not under contract (hasn’t signed franchise tag) and therefore is not at mandatory minicamp. Perfect attendance, otherwise. Once again, he spoke highly of Jacobs & is respectful of this process.

Even though we haven't heard any updates, it's hard to assume that Josh Jacobs won't be suiting up well ahead of Week 1. Zamir White would be the contingency draft for the weary, as he was technically the first running back this coaching regimen had a hand in taking last year.

This is, of course, a bold prediction. But it also comes from a very reliable source and comes with Josh Jacobs trending in the wrong direction.

The Raiders are currently carrying five running backs (plus a fullback), so if Jacobs really loses this much ground game work to rookie Zamir White, the veteran's fantasy season is going to be miserable. Amongst those other running backs resides Brandon Bolden, who has a rich history of catching passes out of the backfield in a Josh McDaniels offense.

Raiders beat writer Maurice Morton added to Pelissero's tweet that he's "not surprised about this." He said Abdullah hasn’t played the last 2 preseason games and he clearly surpassed Drake on the Raiders RB depth chart. In his eyes, the depth chart goes: Jacobs, White, Abdullah and Bolden. Drake could catch on somewhere else but his role may not be as significant as it once was.

An ankle injury suffered in Sunday's loss at Miami will cost Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey the rest of the season.

An MRI Monday morning revealed an injury severe enough to place him on injured reserve. Because of the time it would take to recover, and because it will be his second time on injured reserve this season, the news means McCaffrey will miss out on the Panthers' final five regular season games after the bye week.

It was reported earlier today that McCaffrey's ankle injury wasn't that serious and he could return after the bye week, but the MRI changed the mind of the team. It's certainly not a surprise as McCaffrey has found it hard to stay on the field this year. With the team in a freefall and the season winding down, there wasn't much incentive to bringing McCaffrey back after another injury even if he was healthy. Hubbard will now take over as the team's lead back and has flashed earlier this season as the RB1.

As the Vikings blew past the Chargers on Sunday, they did so without their standout running back.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook left Sunday's 39-10 win over the Bolts with a shoulder injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

Cook took a handoff early in the third quarter to the left side and was tackled by Denzel Perryman and injured on the play. Making his way to the medical tent, Cook emerged, but didn't have his helmet on and was ruled out by the team with the Vikings leading 18-10. Mattison was inactive in Week 15 and so it was Boone who rushed for 56 yards and two scores. It will be an interesting Viking RB situation heading into Week 16.

The Vikings made a change in the backfield during their bye week when they claimed running back Ameer Abdullah off of waivers from the Lions.

Abdullah was a starter for most of his first three seasons, but fell out of favor in Detroit this year and played in just three games before losing his roster spot.

As the story said, it’s unclear how much playing time he can expect to see with Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray already on hand. The story added he could be used on kick returns.

The Lions are signing FA WR Bruce Ellington, formerly of the Texans, source said. To create space, they are waiving RB Ameer Abdullah.

Abdullah had a strong spring and summer and surprised many by making the team. But, he’s been mostly inactive this season. Rapoport went on to say Detroit had some trade talks before the deadline, but nothing came to fruition.
