It was nearly impossible to take down a tournament in Week 9 without having Justin Fields and Joe Mixon in your lineup. The two combined for an incredible 103.82 DK points. Getting that kind of head start on the field is insurmountable in most cases, especially considering we are only starting five players in this contest. Davante Adams was huge too… in the first half at least. After nine receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against the Jaguars, Adams managed just one catch for zero yards the rest of the way. A record-setting kind of performance was there for the taking but for whatever reason, Josh McDaniels didn’t stick with what was working. Compared to the three I just mentioned Jaylen Waddle and Tyler Lockett were downright pedestrian with 19.5 and 17.7 DK points, respectively.

Our optimal play at quarterback worked out pretty well. Patrick Mahomes threw for 446 yards and a touchdown and added another 63 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown on his way to 38.1 DK points and a QB2 finish behind only Justin Fields in Week 9. Trevor Lawrence, my value play at quarterback, finished as QB12 on the week with 16.7 DK points. Austin Ekeler finished as the RB5 as our optimal play, scoring a respectable 24.1 points. The value play worked out too. Miles Sanders finished at RB11 with 15.3 DK points, just barely missing the bonus for 100 rushing yards. We already talked about Davante Adams finishing as the WR1 in Week 9 in just two quarters, but the 4for4 optimal play didn’t hurt you either. Justin Jefferson finished as the WR4 with 28.5 DK points. After Keenan Allen was declared out late in the week, I came back with Josh Palmer as the updated value play. That one worked out well with Palmer scoring 21.6 DK points, tied for WR5 with Christian Kirk. On to Week 10.

Optimal Options

If money is no object, here are the best plays at each starting spot based on the Week 10 rankings over at 4for4.

Josh Allen, QB BUF (Elite FP: $799, Rare FP: $85)

Allen is the top-ranked quarterback on the week at 4for4 and is projected to score 23.6 DK points. Buffalo is a seven-and-a-half-point home favorite against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota is a neutral matchup giving up the seventeenth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. The Bills have a 28-point implied team total, the second-highest of the week.

Saquon Barkley, RB NYG (Elite FP: $490, Rare FP: $55)

Barkley is the top-ranked running back at 4for4 and is projected to hit the 100-yard bonus for rushing yards and score 28.3 DK points. Coming off their Week 9 bye, New York is an early five-and-a-half-point home favorite against the Houston Texans who are giving up the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Giants have a 22-point implied team total, the seventh-highest of the week.

Cooper Kupp, WR LAR (Elite FP: $624, Rare FP: $64)

Kupp is the top-ranked wide receiver at 4for4 and is projected to hit the 100-yard bonus for receiving yards and score 29.1 DK points. Los Angeles is an early three-point home favorite against the Arizona Cardinals who are a tough matchup for wide receivers and giving up the sixth-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Cooper Kupp is receiving 11.6 targets per game and is a matchup-proof every-week WR1 play. The Rams have a 23.25-point implied team total, the sixth-highest of the week.

Travis Kelce, TE KC (Elite FR: $815 Rare FP: $815)

Kelce is the number one ranked tight end at 4for4 and is projected to score 18.6 DK points. Kansas City is an early nine-and-a-half-point home favorite against the Jacksonville Jaguars who are giving up the eighth-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Kelce is the only tight end worth playing over a wide receiver in the WR/TE spot.

Christian McCaffery, RB SF (Elite FP: $570, Rare FP: $70)

We’re going with a running back in the flex this week because of the incredible matchup. McCaffery is the second-ranked running back at 4for4 and is projected to score 23 DK points. San Francisco is a three-and-a-half-point home favorite against the Los Angeles Chargers who are giving up the second-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the position. The Niners have a 25-point implied team total, the fifth-highest of the week.

Value Plays

Trevor Lawrence, QB JAX (Elite FP: $220, Rare FP: $02)

We’re going back to the well with Lawrence this week in a plus matchup where he will need to throw a ton to keep up with the opponent. Lawrence is ranked as the QB12 this week by 4for4 and is projected to score 15.8 DK points. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a nine-and-a-half-point road dog against the Kansas City Chiefs who are giving up the fifth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points in the league to opposing quarterbacks. The Jaguars have a 23.25-point implied team total, the 14th-highest of the week.

Jamaal Williams, RB DET (Elite FP: $175, Rare: $23)

D’Andre Swift Is still seeing his workload reduced as he continues to work his way back from injury, so his backfield-mate is in play once again. Williams is ranked 11th among running backs by 4for4 and is projected to score 15.9 DK points. Detroit is an early two-and-a-half point road dog against the Chicago Bears who are giving up the fourth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Lions have a 23-point implied team total, the tenth-highest of the week.

DJ Moore, WR CAR (Elite FP: $220, Rare FP: $24)

DJ Moore had a down game in Week Nine after a couple of weeks of nice production following the Robbie Anderson trade to Arizona. Two weeks ago he broke out against Atlanta and he gets the same matchup here in week 10. He is ranked as the WR21 by 4for4 and is projected to score 13.7 DK points. The Falcons are giving up the most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
