Arthur Smith said at a Monday press conference that he is still considering what direction to go at quarterback for their Week 16 matchup with the Colts. Logan Woodside is also on the roster, but Smith said that Taylor Heinicke is the only choice other than Desmond Ridder for this week.

Following their bye, the team went back to Ridder because they didn't want to keep switching QBs week-to-week. But as the story said, Ridder threw a brutal interception at a key point in the game and that may be enough for the team to make yet another change. We'll hopefully know more by Wednesday.

“I promise you, I’ll come in on Wednesday and tell you who’s starting,” Smith said, via Tori McElhaney of the Falcons.

Asked if Ridder would start assuming he’s 100 percent healthy, Smith answered, “I have to see where he’s at.” Heinicke came off the bench and played better than Ridder did, which would seem to indicate that Heinicke also gives the Falcons the better chance to beat the Vikings on Sunday, the story concluded. But Smith has invested a lot of time in developing Ridder and has indicated that he believes in Ridder going forward, and he may not be ready to bench his young quarterback just yet, the story added.

Ridder threw for just 191 yards and added two interceptions to his totals against the Jags on Sunday morning in the first London game of the season. The Jags led 17-0 at the half forcing the Falcons to come out throwing and play catch-up during the second half. The Falcons host the Texans in Week 5. Those in deeper leagues or superflex leagues may want to think about making some room for Heinicke if he's on your wire as Ridder could be one more bad start away from a benching.

Like it or not, this isn’t a question of job security and won’t be anytime soon. The Titans already doubled down on Ryan Tannehill by restructuring his contract at a greater cost in the future. He’s not going anywhere, and there is no scenario other than serious injury in which Logan Woodside would ever start games ahead of him.

Thus the Titans – no matter what happens on the field – are sure to continue to fervently support Tannehill. Teammates and coaches will keep pointing to intangibles.

The team acquired Julio Jones to bolster the passing game, but that hasn't worked out as of yet, and both A.J. Brown and Jones have been sidelined more than not. Leading rusher Derrick Henry has also been out leaving the Titan offense shorthanded as a whole. As the story said, Tannehill hasn't been the problem, but he hasn't been good enough to be the solution at least up to now.
