The Philadelphia Eagles have placed star tight end, Zach Ertz, on short-term injured reserve.

Ertz is dealing with a high ankle sprain with a 4-6 week timetable, so the move to free up roster space by stashing him on the short term injured reserve list is not unexpected. The Eagles will need to get by with their third-string tight end Richard Rodgers until at least Week 10, which is the low end of Ertz's timeframe. Dallas Godert will also be sidelined until Week 10. DeSean Jackson and Travis Fulgham should get all the targets they can handle until then.

Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn told reporters on Wednesday that running back Austin Ekeler's hamstring strain is "serious" and he will be back "later rather than sooner."

Fantasy managers should not be expecting Ekeler to come off injured reserve when he is first eligible in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Justin Jackson will split work with rookie Joshua Kelley while Ekeler sits out. Jackson looks like better bet for touches as he garnered 20 in Week 5 compared to Kelley's 12.

Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota is ready to return as Derek Carr‘s backup.

Mariota has been designated for return from the Raiders’ practice squad.

The story said he’ll presumably move ahead of Nathan Peterman on the depth chart as the No. 2 quarterback in Las Vegas.

ESPN writer Bill Barnwell believes Drake is in the “very hot seat,” calling the running back “ordinary.”

Drake’s longest run this season has been 16 yards, a far cry from the 80-yard TD last season, and is averaging 3.7 yards per carry — which is what he averaged in Miami in 2019 before being traded to Arizona. He’s also been lacking in the passing game, the story said. Meanwhile, Edmonds has been making the most of his limited work and there are those who follow the team calling for him to get more work. Drake was just OK in a good matchup against the Jets and has another good one Monday night against Dallas. Hopefully for owners he starts to take advantage.

Eagles expect Miles Sanders to miss Thursday night's game with knee injury... Zach Ertz also expected out for 3-to-4 weeks with an ankle injury, according to sources.

Goedert is expected to return to this week, a short week with a game on Thursday night. Owners were already asking about dropping Ertz on our Discuss Your Team forum, and it looks like that's a serious option at this point. At running back, Scott should suck up a large amount of Sanders' workload with Clement also becoming more of a factor.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders (knee) and TE Zach Ertz (ankle) are both set for MRIs after their respective injuries during Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

Sanders was injured during a 74-yard run that was fumbled into the end zone and recovered by J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. Sanders finished with nine carries for 118 yards and had one catch for -6 yards. Ertz was targeted ten times Sunday but had just four catches for 33 yards. Glazer says the Eagles are more concerned about the status of Sanders. The Eagles are on a short week with a Thursday game coming against the Giants. It's almost certain Sanders will not play in Week 7. Boston Scott will see more work if Sanders cannot go. The Eagles' offense, as a whole, needs a spark, though Travis Fulgham (6-75-1) has been a very nice emergence.
