Cardinals TE Zach Ertz being released to waiver wires

Cardinals and TE Zach Ertz are mutually parting ways, with Arizona deciding to move forward with its TE Trey McBride while giving Ertz the opportunity to finish out the season somewhere else. Ertz will go on waivers.

Fantasy Impact:

This makes sense, getting a much more explosive McBride on the field rather than mixing them both in with Ertz returning to health. Ertz could be picked up somewhere who needs TE help, and the Eagles wouldn't be out of the question if there are any hiccups in Dallas Goedert's return from his own injury.

Week 7 vs Carolina Panthers

It’s not flashy, but Zach Ertz is doing Yeoman work at the tight end spot in 2024. Ertz is the TE17 for the season in points per game, but he was the TE10 a week ago with 8.8 Half-PPR points. He’s running all the routes, which is pretty much all we can ask for any player outside the elite tier at the position.

Ertz remains a viable streaming option at tight end heading into Week 7. The Panthers rank 19th in aFPA to tight ends this season, and with Ertz operating as Jayden Daniels’ safety valve he should be able to produce low-end TE1 numbers this week.
