Week 1 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Wednesday

Bills QB Cardale Jones (right shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Luck isn’t in any danger of missing Week 1. He has a tasty matchup with the Lions.

Jets QB Bryce Petty (right shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) did not practice Wednesday. Dak Prescott will get the start and he’s a good-looking Sneaky Start/DFS play this week.

Broncos RB Kapri Bibbs (quadricep) practiced fully Wednesday.

Bengals RB Rex Burkhead (shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Andy Reid called it a “stretch” for Charles to play this week, so we’re currently expecting Spencer Ware to carry the load with Charcandrick West serving as the change-of-pace back. In two games against the Chargers last year, Ware averaged 7.62 YPC, racking up 148 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (calf) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Calf injuries have a tendency to linger, so T.J. Yeldon is an interesting pickup in shallow leagues. If Ivory can’t play, Yeldon would move up our rankings.

Bears RB Paul Lasike (wrist) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (foot) took limited practice reps Wednesday. McKinnon figures to suit up in Week 1, though he’s unlikely to see enough touches to be fantasy relevant behind Adrian Peterson. He could be a factor in PPR formats if he can lock down the third down role.

Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead (hamstring) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Falcons RB Terron Ward (ankle) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Chiefs RB Charcandrick West (elbow) practiced fully Wednesday.

Bills RB Jonathan Williams (ribs) practiced fully Wednesday.

Packers WR Trevor Davis (shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (concussion) practiced fully Wednesday.

Broncos WR Bennie Fowler (elbow, out) did not practice Wednesday.

Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Fuller is expected to start in Week 1 despite the injury. He has earned the WR2 job after a strong offseason (8-144-2) and has developed a nice rapport with Brock Osweiler.

Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday. It looks like Hogan has earned a starting job. He could post 2014 Brandon LaFell-type numbers (74-953-7) if things break his way.

Packers WR Jeff Janis (hand) practiced fully Wednesday. Janis appears to be fully healthy, but his playing time is very much up in the air. It looks like Davante Adams will start the season as the team’s WR3.

Vikings WR Charles Johnson (quadricep) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Johnson has earned the starting job opposite Stefon Diggs. He played injured for most of last year, which partially explains why he had such a disappointing season.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Jones is fully expected to play against the Buccaneers.

Browns WR Ricardo Louis (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.

Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Marshall is on track to play in Week 1 against the Bengals.

Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell (elbow) took limited practice reps Wednesday. It’s unclear what Mitchell’s role will be when healthy, but he was on track to see significant playing time prior to the injury.

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Parker continues to struggle with his hamstring injury. If he’s out Kenny Stills looks like a good start, with Leonte Carroo potentially getting some run as the team’s WR3.

Lions WR Golden Tate (ankle) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Tate should be fine to play in a great matchup against the Colts.

Bears WR Deonte Thompson (knee, ankle) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Eagles WR Bryce Treggs (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Titans WR Kendall Wright (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Wright has been ruled out for Week 1.

Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. Ebron should be good to go for what’s shaping up to be a high-scoring game against the Colts.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Eifert will not play this week. Tyler Kroft is likely to play starter’s snaps while Eifert is out. Kroft (knee) practiced fully Wednesday.

Vikings TE Rhett Ellison (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Gronkowski should be fine to play Sunday night, though this underlines his tendency to get nicked up during the season. Martellus Bennett would have top 5 upside if Gronk misses any time.

Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman (ankle, questionable) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Packers TE Justin Perillo (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (finger) practiced fully Wednesday.

Vikings TE MyCole Pruitt (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Buccaneers TE Luke Stocker (back) did not practice Wednesday.

Ravens TE Maxx Williams (knee) practiced fully Wednesday.
