A sixth-year pro, Malcolm Brown provides experience and is dependable -- he rushed for a career-high five touchdowns last season. But expect the young backs to be featured after the Rams recently invested in them with early draft picks.

Fantasy Impact:

The Rams traded up to get Henderson last year, but he only played on 8% of the snaps in 2019. Akers was a second round pick back in April, so it makes sense one of these two takes over at some point. The writer feels Akers should be a presence between the tackles but missing offseason workouts because of the pandemic could hurt him, perhaps at least to start the season. We rank Akers the highest among the Ram backs.

Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle, out) missed practice again Thursday and is out for Week 17. Todd Gurley is likely to see reduced snaps so Malcolm Brown could lead this backfield, though Sean McVay has hinted that the Rams won't go all out in this one. The Rams could call up practice squared John Kelly to help.

Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 16. Initially expected to play, per HC Todd McVay, Gurley is now a game-time decision for Sunday. Surprisingly, the beat writers are saying that it will be C.J. Anderson, not John Kelly, who would start if Gurley can’t play. Unless this is contradicted over the next 48 hours, Gurley owners should pick up Anderson as a Plan B in case Gurley can’t go. Anderson’s role is not solid, and he could easily cede to Kelly if things don’t go well at the start of the game. Gurley is still a strong start if he’s active and healthy enough to get most of his usual workload. Complicating matters, the Rams play late on Sunday so owners will need to be on their toes as the day wears on.
