Vikings sign TE John Carlson for five years, $25 million

Vikings reached agreement with former Seahawks tight end John Carslon on a five-year, $25 million deal.

Fantasy Impact:

Carlson showed promise in his first two seasons, posting 55-627-5 and 51-574-7 in his rookie and sophomore years, respectively. But the Seahawks acquired Zach Miller last summer, and Carlson's usage dropped. He finished with just 31 receptions for 318 yards and a TD in 2011. The signing is somewhat curious given the fact that the Vikings already have a talented young TE on the roster in Kyle Rudolph, who caught 26 passes for 249 yards and three TDs playing behind Visanthe Shiancoe. Carlson's arrival puts a dent in Rudolph's sleeper value.
