The Colts lost wide receiver Josh Downs to a shoulder injury during Sunday’s loss to the Lions.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Downs is considered week-to-week and that he will be a long shot to get cleared to play against New England so it looks like the Colts will be without him in Week 13, according to the post. As the story points out, Downs had three catches for 27 yards before leaving Sunday’s game. He has 53 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games this season.

Colts LT Bernhard Raimann (knee) is OUT for Sunday’s game against the Jets, per Indy HC Shane Steichen.

WR Michael Pittman Jr. (back) will play after missing last week’s game.

It's hard to stomach playing any Colts wide receivers this week, but Downs and Pittman can be considered in the WR4 range for desperate fantasy managers.

Shane Steichen has ruled out Michael Pittman Jr. (back, finger) for Sunday.

Things aren't trending well for Michael Pittman Jr. to see the field in Week 10, but we'll have to watch for Friday practice reports to confirm. Josh Downs is the only reliable pass-catcher in Indianapolis as it stands, and should be in strong lineup consideration regardless of Pittman's status.

Even though Pittman has be cleared, he should remain on benches in all but the deepest leagues. This would have been a decent spot if Tua Tagovailoa were playing on the other side, but this game could easily turn into a slog.

This should push Downs into WR2 consideration, regardless of whether or not Anthony Richardson returns in Week 6. Pierce, and now, Mitchell become more interesting as respective WR3/Desperation Flex options.

It's not a great matchup against a Packers team that looks to be starting Malik Willis, but Anthony Richardson once again proved that he's willing to throw bombs early and often. It'll be a coinflip as to whether Pierce or Mitchell is the one who will come down with a deep ball in Downs presumptive absence, but the correct guess could equate to a WR3 week. They are both extreme boom/bust options.

The 3-wide set has been Pittman, Downs, and Pierce throughout camp, with Downs seemingly locked into the No. 2 role. If Downs ends up missing time, this will allow rookie Adonai Mitchell to see the field more often, regardless of his progression ahead of Year 1. This would be a huge boost to his fantasy stock considering he was trending towards a rotational role.

The Colts’ most intriguing position battle throughout training camp will be at wide receiver, with Alec Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell battling to secure the third spot alongside Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs.

Boyd surmises that Pierce may have "plateaued", which gives us insight into why the Colts targeted Mitchell in the second round of the NFL Draft. Even if the rookie wins the job, Mitchell's place in redraft leagues is iffy at best. He currently ranks outside the top-80 in 4for4's rankings.

Jelani Woods missed all of the 2023 season due to hamstring injuries, but he offers something none of the other tight ends have shown, an impressive size-speed combination that could make him a devastating downfield target.

Indianapolis will likely use at least three tight ends heavily on offense this season.

Pittman and Downs are the team's top-two WRs with rookie Mitchell and Pierce also battling it out for time. Granson led the way at TE last year but as the story said Woods has the potential to bust out. The use of three TEs certainly indicates the Colts are going to be run-heavy this season. However, any of the team's TEs could be passing options as well in that formation, so the situation is worth monitoring this summer.
