Another new kicker for Washington, which cut Matt Gay today.

Fantasy Impact:

It didn't take the Commanders long to find a replacement for Gay. Moody struggled at times with the 49ers but finds a new home with the Commanders.

Fantasy Upside

Matt Gay was a free agent addition after his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and averaged 8.3 points per game in the final seven weeks of the 2020 season. Gay is attached to an offense poised to score and at worse lead to numerous field goal attempts.

Fantasy Downside

Gay is a kicker and their week-to-week production is as guaranteed as our time on earth (eat Arby’s). If Stafford turns the Rams offense into one of the more efficient units in the NFL, Gay will miss out on field goal attempts.

2021 Bottom Line

Gay’s strong finish to 2020 stabilized the Rams kicking situation and he is set up for a strong 2021. He is the seventh-ranked kicker in John Paulsen’s rankings.
