Sheesh. With the lack of firepower, Jones should be more of a desperation streamer if your waiver wire is barren. Bourne and Robinson can probably be left off of lineups as well.

49ers GM John Lynch told @KNBR that QB Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall will both be questionable for the TNF Rams game.

“We will take every precaution to make sure Brock’s all right. I think he is, now can he turn it around on a short week?”

The injuries don't seem to be backing off any time soon. If Pearsall is out and Jennings is available —which isn't guaranteed— the latter should be considered more of a WR2 than a WR3. Christian McCaffrey is a must-start no matter what's going on with his teammates.

If Jennings misses, Pearsall should be considered a high-end WR2, and Jennings would be in a similar situation if the roles are reversed. With Brock Purdy back, each have great upside paired with a pretty good floor.

49ers GM John Lynch told @KNBR that WR Brandon Aiyuk is “not close” to returning from the knee injury he suffered almost a year ago. There was more damage than just to the ACL, and more recovery time is required.

This aligns well with Jeff Mueller's assessment that Aiyuk's most likely return would be in Week 6, but the wording suggests a potential that it may last even longer. He remains a good stash — particularly if you have an IR spot — but it still looks like we're weeks away from it changing the remaining 49ers' pass-catchers' target share.

The second straight season of brutal injury luck in San Francisco rolls right along. Brock Purdy was at least present at practice today, though it was in a limited fashion. At this point, it does not appear Jauan Jennings' shoulder injury is serious. Some good injury news after a rough one on Monday.

There is no word on what his status may be for Week 2, but there could at least be a window where he's able to play. Owners will want to monitor practice reports this week. The Niners were hammered by injuries in Week 1, losing George Kittle for multiple weeks because of a hamstring injury, and on top of that, Brock Purdy is dealing with toe and shoulder issues and is a question mark for this week against the Saints. Having Jennings will be a boost to the offense if he can go, but we likely won't know more until later this week.

Kendrick Bourne is returning home to the San Francisco 49ers on a 1 year deal with a max value of $5 million dollars.

Pearsall had a 4-108-0 line but after that it was Christian McCaffrey catching nine passes. Jennings and Kittle both left the game with injuries, leaving their status for Week 2 in doubt. The Niners need the help at WR but it remains to be seen of Bourne is the answer. Bourne does have a history in San Francisco with Kyle Shanahan so he's a name to keep an eye on.

Kyle Shanahan said he expects Jauan Jennings to play on Sunday. He's limited in today's practice with a calf injury.

Good news for Jennings managers, but we would have liked to hear this clearance more than a few days away from kickoff. Pearsall could easily begin the season as the target leader for the 49ers, with Kittle being in the running for overall TE1 to begin the year.

Monday brought a positive development for the 49ers’ receiving corps.

Reporters at the open portion of practice shared photos and videos of Jauan Jennings taking part in the session. The wideout has been sidelined by a calf injury for an extended period of time, but the word in the last week or so has been that the team expects him to play against the Seahawks this week.

Monday’s workout is a good sign that things are moving in that direction, although the team won’t issue their first official injury report of the season until after Wednesday’s practice is in the books, the story said. Jennings, of course, also wants a new contract and there is no word if things have changed on that front.

This news comes as no surprise. Aiyuk's timeline to return is around Week 6 as we previously reported. Jennings is dealing with a calf injury/contract issue, which means the Niners are without their top-two WRs, at the moment. Pearsall, Kittle and McCaffrey should carry the load in the passing game at least to start the season.
