Week 6 Revenge Games: 12 Players Out to Torch Their Ex-Teams

This week's revenge story takes us back to 1981. A year earlier, a German woman named Marianne Bachmeier's daughter Anna was abducted by Klaus Grabowski, a local butcher. He sexually assaulted and then strangled the seven-year-old before dumping her body on the shore of a canal. Bachmeier attended Grabowski's trial, snuck a pistol into the courtroom, and shot him dead before the trial could continue. She was later convicted of manslaughter in 1983 and sentenced to six years in prison, but was released after about three.

Revenge is always on the minds of those done dirty, and not all NFL players who changed teams were necessarily wronged, but we have to assume some sort of vengeance lies within.

I outlined what I found from 11 years of data in the article Revenge Games: 11 Years of Data on Fantasy Breakouts vs. Former Teams, and this weekly article dives into who’s seeking retribution each week.

Before I get into this week's revengers, let’s look at how Week 5 shook out in half-PPR scoring.

Sam Darnold: QB26 (8.3)
J.K. Dobbins: RB16 (14.4)
Mike Gesicki: TE20 (6.9)

Week 6 Revenge Seekers

Jameis Winston (NYG) vs. Saints

The Jameis Winston experience comes full-ish circle this weekend as he faces a New Orleans team he played for from 2020-2023. Winston is coming off a game with three touchdowns and ZERO interceptions. He will look to keep it rolling this week against a defensive unit ranked 18th in QB schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed, or aFPA.

Kenneth Gainwell (TB) vs. Steelers

After four seasons in Philly, Kenneth Gainwell went to Pittsburgh for one year before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2026. He's averaging about 5.6 touches per contest so far through five games, but could see an uptick this week facing his former employer. He's still not fantasy relevant outside of desperation as long as Bucky Irving is healthy, though.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (LAC) @ Chiefs

He is dealing with a rib injury, but Marquez Valdes-Scantling will likely play in this AFC West matchup. You may be just finding out that MVS is a Charger, but either way, he was a member of the Chiefs from 2022-2023. Despite the injury situation at pass-catching for LA, he's still not a viable option this week unless you're down pretty bad.

Worth Mentioning - Deebo Samuel has a revenge game this week against the Commanders, but is out in Week 6.
