Dolphins Through the Air
- QB: Tua Tagovailoa, Mike White

Left for dead with a career 6.6 yards per attempt through his first two seasons, Tua Tagovailoa was immediately elevated by coach Mike McDaniel with the NFL’s highest rate of passes (31.5%) within 10-19 yards of the line of scrimmage for a league-leading 8.9 yards per attempt (YPA) and a 6.3% touchdown rate, matching MVP Patrick Mahomes in the latter metric.
And therein lies the issue: Among the seven other quarterbacks to average 8.9 YPA on 400+ passes in the Super Bowl era, none were able to increase their YPA the following year, averaging a full 1.6-yard decrease on the season—Joe Burrow most recently plummeted from 8.9 YPA in 2022 to 7.4 last year but defied all odds as the QB4 in points per game due to his career-high five rushing scores.
