GB WR Davante Adams - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Tampa Bay

After missing the last two games to injury, Adams is back to full health and is ready to return to elite WR1 status in Week 6 against Tampa Bay. In his only fully healthy games this season, Adams erupted for a ridiculous stat line of 14-156-2 on 17 targets. While he might not produce like that right off the bat, Adams will continue to see the bulk of Aaron Rodgers targets and even in a difficult matchup against the Bucs, trust Adams as an elite WR1 in this contest.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New Orleans

Adams was certainly one of the biggest dudes in Week 2 as his 3-36-0 line was a far cry from his stellar Week 1 performance. However, it appears Adams had been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout and it bothered him enough that he didn’t play in the second half against Detroit. To this point, Adams has missed all practice this week and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Adams’ “didn’t look great” to play in Week 3.

Sunday night games are always tricky for fantasy football, but the risk might outweigh the reward in playing Adams as soft-tissue injuries prove limit and/or reaggravate in-game (see Julio Jones Week 2). If healthy, Adams should still be on the WR1 radar, but be sure to monitor his status throughout the weekend.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Detroit

Davante Adams just might be the best WR in the NFL, and his Week 1 performance certainly backs that up. After a mostly quiet first quarter, Adams torched the Vikings secondary for 14 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Adams 17 targets led the league in that category for Week 1 and he also accounted for almost 40% the target distribution in Green Bay.

Adams is in a special place right now, as his elite ability in combination with an elite QB and hardly any target competition makes him the WR1 every week. To add fuel to the fire, Detroit’s three starting corners are all dealing with hamstring injuries, teeing up Adams for another huge day. Keep this elite WR1 in your starting lineup all season long.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Minnesota

More so than any other season—it’s going to be the Davante Adams Show all season long. Adams is a great bet to lead the NFL in targets with such little depth behind him, and against this new Minnesota secondary, he should eat all night long. Regardless of how the game goes, most of the passes Rodgers will throw will belong to one of the best receivers in the NFL. Adams is an elite WR1 option this week and should unquestionably be plugged into all lineups.

GB WR Davante Adams - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Despite missing five games due to lower body injures in 2019, Davante Adams still managed to finish as the WR26 in fantasy, and was widely one of the most productive WRs in the league when he was active. Regarded as arguably the best WR in the NFL, Adams has averaged 133.5 targets each of the past four seasons and without any receivers of consequence behind him, he’s a near-lock to finish the season with a career-high in targets. One of Adams’ biggest takeaways from last season was his disappointing five receiving touchdowns, a far cry from his double-digit average from the prior three seasons—so an expected positive regression is very much in play.

Fantasy Downside

The lack of touchdowns last season is a bit of a concern for Adams, especially considering Green Bay not only has the league leader in rushing touchdowns in Aaron Jones, but the team also spent a second-round pick in the 2020 draft in bruising RB A.J. Dillon. Ultimately, Adams' production will once again be tied to healthy and passing attempts of Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers can remain healthy with a positive game script, Adams should continue to see a heavy dose of targets.

2020 Bottom Line

Adams should continue his elite-level production in 2020 and quite possibly set career highs in targets and receptions with such little competition for receptions in Green Bay. We currently have Adams ranked second amongst WRs and his current ADP in 12-team leagues has him going in the middle of the first round. Along with fellow elite WR Michael Thomas, Adams is the only draftable receiver in the first round, however the biggest difference between the two this season will be Adams’ higher target rate.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Detroit Lions
Davante Adams got a season-high 16 targets last week, hauling in 13 catches for 116 yards, though he failed to score. Still, he's easily the No. 1 receiver in Green Bay and can go off in any given week. He'll draw Darius Slay in shadow coverage, but the Lions have struggled this season in coverage as a whole. Adams should be a WR1 play in this game with ease. He needs 96 yards to go over 1,000 yards for the season and is a good bet to get there.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Minnesota Vikings
After a dip in targets in Week 14, Davante Adams saw his target share increase from 6 to 13 in Week 15 and responded with 7 catches for 103 yards and a score. The Vikings' once-proud secondary is in the bottom third of the league stopping opposing receivers and Adams caught 7 passes for 106 yards against them back in Week 2. He's a solid WR1 play this week as he looks to finish strong.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Chicago Bears
Davante Adams got six targets last week, which was his low since returning from a foot injury last month. And he caught just four passes for 41 yards as a result. This will be a tough matchup for him. He caught four passes for 36 yards on eight targets against the Bears to open the season. He should get eight or more targets again in this game, but he's probably more of a low-end WR1 play this week.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Washington Redskins
Davante Adams has reached double digits in targets in each of his past five games, turning 10 targets last week into six catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns. It would be nice if another receiver stepped up to take some of the pressure off Adams, but the volume is there each week to be a WR1 and that's what he is against the Redskins.

GB WR Davante Adams - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. New York Giants
Davante Adams had seven catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, also catching a two-point conversion pass last week at San Francisco. He got a team-high 12 targets and has 33 targets and at least seven catches in every game since his return from a toe injury. Adams is an easy WR1 each week with that kind of workload and should be this week in a tasty matchup against the Giants.
