Waiver Wire Watch Week 8

As a refresher, The Drop List consists of players who are rostered in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues and are no longer must-have assets, recommended additions are available in over 50% of Yahoo leagues, the Watch List contains in-depth notes on fringe waiver adds, and Deep Cuts includes player notes on those rostered in 5% or fewer of Yahoo and FFPC leagues.

The Drop List

In leagues where Daniel Jones is still available, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson serve as nothing more than roadblocks to an individual with more upside: Rodgers has yet to finish any higher than the QB13 in any game this year while Wilson, battling through a “partially torn hamstring”, remains the QB18 in fantasy points per game (14.8) with a single top-15 performance (Week 4 against the Raiders) this season. The Broncos have also scored just eight touchdowns through Week 7.

The Colts are reportedly benching Matt Ryan, who leads the league with nine interceptions, for the rest of the season regardless of his shoulder injury. Sam Ehlinger is ranked accordingly among this week’s quarterbacks.

Chase Edmonds’ seven touches are an increase on the surface but it’s Raheem Mostert who handled 70% of Miami’s backfield touches for the fourth consecutive game, additionally being on the field for a route on a season-high 71% of dropbacks. Edmonds is exclusively a contingency option (and ranked in the Contingency Top 10 for it) among a league chalked with them.

J.K. Dobbins is expected to miss “4-6 weeks” following arthroscopic knee surgery. Already limited in his first attempt to return to the field, there’s no need to envision Dobbins as a viable fantasy asset in 2022 since his timeline keeps him sidelined until after the fantasy playoffs. Kenyan Drake, albeit Baltimore’s second running back, is also expected to lose value since Gus Edwards’ 36% snap share in his first game back will only grow.

Jeff Wilson unsurprisingly handled a season-low 37% of San Francisco’s backfield touches despite Christian McCaffrey’s limited involvement on only 28% of snaps. As McCaffrey learns the playbook, both Elijah Mitchell and Wilson will undoubtedly become afterthoughts to the league’s most impactful back (acquired for four picks). Wilson has been added to the Contingency Top 10 (scroll down) as a premier stash in case of injury until Mitchell (who would then take his place as a stash) returns.

Overall Top 10

1. Gus Edwards
