Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka will miss time with a hamstring injury.

Egbuka will get an MRI today. Rapoport said the injury doesn't seem as serious as Evans' hamstring injury, but it's looking like he's going to at least miss this week's game against the Lions. The Bucs then play the Saints before their Week 9 bye, so it's very possible we don't see Egbuka until Week 10. Rapoport said Evans is getting closer to a return and Godwin is week to week. Anyone on the Bucs who plays the WR position could be in play for fantasy lineups, at least for Week 7. It was Kam Johnson and Tez Johnson who both stood out with TD catches against the 49ers.

Godwin hasn't looked quite the same since coming back in Week 4, turning 14 targets into six catches and 52 yards. We would say this would open the door for more Egbuka usage, but he's already been the focal point of the offense with Godwin ailing and Mike Evans missing time.

Shepard moves closer up in dart-throw territory, while this *could* finally be a game where Otton makes for a sensible TE streamer.

As Greg said, lots to take in here, but not a ton of surprises.

As it stands, we're not expecting any positive Week 5 news for Irving or Evans, which locks Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, and Rachaad White into fantasy-friendly roles, while Mayfield should be in low-end QB1 consideration unless he experiences a setback.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles said Baker Mayfield (biceps) Tristan Wirfs (knee) and Chris Godwin (ankle) are all questionable for Sunday but trending the right way. Mayfield should be able to play.

Chris Godwin was a full participant Wed, had a scheduled day off Thursday and is back practicing today as well as T Tristan Wirfs. Both seem to be on track to play Sunday vs. Eagles. Will update after practice with Todd Bowles.

Evans' hamstring injury isn't considered as bad as the injury that caused him to miss three weeks last season. Evans is hopeful of a possible return before Week 7, and avoiding a trip to the IR. Godwin is working his way back from the ankle injury, but likely isn't returning this week. Egbuka should be the team's top target at WR with Shepard sliding in as the second. It's possible Otton, Irving and White see a bump in the passing game. Miller and both Johnsons have played very limited roles so far this season with Miller collecting a 20-yard TD catch in Week 2.

While Bucs coach Todd Bowles said the team does not have MRI results for star WR Mike Evans, he termed the injury as "low-grade" based on the initial diagnosis.

As Rapoport went on to say, it's a good sign the injury won't be a longer term one. Still, Evans doesn't seem likely to play in Week 4 against the Eagles, in what is an earlier Sunday game. With Egbuka also battling an injury coming into Week 3, and Godwin projected to miss another week or two, the Bucs are suddenly a bit shorthanded at the WR position. Egbuka did play in Week 3 and led the team with six catches and 85 yards, so he should be good to go at least. But behind him it's possible Irving, White, and Otton see increased work in the passing game. At WR, Shepard and Miller look to be the next men up.

Looks like all systems go for Egbuka, who should continue his promising rookie start with WR2 consideration.

Godwin reportedly won’t play until October. He’s expected to start practicing in Week 2, the story went on to say. With Godwin out, Egbuka is poised to take over the WR2 role behind Evans. Next up could be the veteran Shepard.

Jalen McMillan will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a “severely sprained neck,” against the Steelers and could be out past the Bucs Week 9 bye week, the Times has learned.

This is a bit of an update from our previous item about McMillan. The post went on to say the team still feels fortunate the injury wasn’t worse and that they have depth at WR starting with Evans and Egbuka. Godwin will eventually return from a dislocated ankle, the story pointed out. Egbuka is likely pressed into a high-impact role from the start for the Bucs. Shepard and Palmer are a couple of other names to keep an eye on in this offense, especially if Godwin isn't able to start the start the season on the active roster.
