Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury is being targeted by Oklahoma for their now vacant head coaching position.
Lincoln Riley stunned the world Sunday by accepting the head coach position at USC. So he at least wasn’t lying after Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State by saying he wasn’t going to be the next head coach at LSU. As far as this story with Kingsbury and Oklahoma goes, Kingsbury has just one year left on his contract after this season with the Cardinals. Kingsbury had a decent but not great stint as head coach at Texas Tech before the Cardinals hired him as head coach. This of course is all coming as the Cardinals are enjoying one of the better seasons in recent memory, currently sitting with the league’s best record at 9-2. This will be very fascinating to watch, for sure.
Just an ugly day all around for the Panthers. Newton went 5/21 for 92 yards and two interceptions before the team turned to P.J. Walker, who was not very effective himself, going just 5/10 for 87 yards and an interception of his own. McCaffrey getting injured again doesn’t help matters either. He finished with just 35 yards on ten carries. Carolina is now 5-7 after the 33-10 thumping to the suddenly hot Miami Dolphins, who have now won four straight after a 1-7 start. That 3-0 start feels like forever ago for the Panthers, who have lost seven of nine since. Carolina finally has their bye next week, giving McCaffrey time to rest before a grueling homestretch that includes the Falcons, Saints, Bills and two games against the Buccaneers.
Giants GM Dave Gettleman is unlikely to return as general manager in 2022.
The Giants started what could be a full house-cleaning Tuesday by firing offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. Moving on from Gettleman looks to be the next piece and we'll see what happens with HC Joe Judge. Gettleman could ultimately walk away himself and decide to retire. It'll bring an end to what was a very disappointing tenure as Giants GM. Gettleman is in his fourth season as Giants GM and the team has gone 18-40 to this point with Gettleman as GM and could be headed for their second last-place finish in the division in that time. The Giants are 3-7 going into today's home game with the Eagles. Whoever does become the GM will at least have the luxury of potentially two picks in the top ten in the draft thanks to the Chicago Bears currently sitting at 4-7. The big question remains will Daniel Jones stick around. Plenty of questions surrounding the team and it will be interesting to watch unfold.
