The Raiders are set for a QB battle in camp with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell.

O'Connell had a decent enough rookie season, but still only managed 6.5 yards per pass attempt. Minshew would likely offer more upside for the fantasy pieces in Las Vegas.

O'Connell, Minshew, and possibly a first-round NFL Draft selection (Michael Penix?) will make up the quarterback controversy heading into the long Summer months, and it's hard to get excited about any of them.

The #Raiders have agreed to terms with QB Gardner Minshew on a 2-year deal. He'll compete with QB Aidan O'Connell.

Minshew performed admirably in steed of Anthony Richardson, but this doesn't do a lot for fantasy purposes. He has proven that he doesn't mind honing in on a #1 option, so should he win the job, Davante Adams should expect plenty of targets.

Another major move in Las Vegas: The Raiders are expected to start rookie QB Aidan O'Connell this week and going forward, with Jimmy Garoppolo going to the bench. The promising O’Connell now gets his shot.

Things are getting spicy in Vegas. O'Connell should be able to move the ball down the field better than Garoppolo was able to on Monday Night Football, and will hopefully bring Jakobi Meyers and Davante Adams back into fantasy relevance.

Head coach Josh McDaniels was asked at a Monday press conference how close Jimmy Garoppolo was to getting back from his back injury for the Chicago game. He declined to put a number on it, but said that there’s hope about his ability to get back for next Monday night.

“That’s a medical thing,” McDaniels said. “I wouldn’t be able to put a percentage on that. I know he’s doing well, but that’s something they’ll let us know when it’s turned a corner. I’m hoping for this week, but I don’t have clarification yet.”

As the story said, Hoyer was 17-of-32 for 129 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by O’Connell. O’Connell started a game earlier this year when Garoppolo had a concussion, but McDaniels said he didn’t second guess the choice to go with Hoyer Sunday.

The injury isn't as significant as it looked, according to Rapoport. As we reported last night, Garoppolo left the stadium in an ambulance. Garoppolo could end up missing a game, but Rapoport made it seem like the injury wouldn't be long-term. Hoyer finished the game against New England but O'Connell could get the start in Week 7 if Jimmy G is out. The Raiders travel to play the Bears in Week 7 in what will be an early, Sunday game.
