Barring injury, Titans Kerry Collins is the Titans' QB of record. He will get the starter's treatment in training camp and will play sparingly in preseason games — "two or three series," Fisher said.
Beyond that, Collins has settled seamlessly back into the preferred role he held for so long in his NFL career — No. 1 quarterback. In the 11 seasons before he joined the Titans, Collins started 145 of the 152 games in which he appeared. He knows his way around the huddle.
"He's been here every day. He's here working with the receivers," Fisher said.
Sure, there are concerns about his age. With the retirements of Brett Favre and Trent Green, Collins is one of the position's elder statesmen. Among quarterbacks that project as NFL starters this season, only Jeff Garcia (39) and Kurt Warner (38) are older.
But Collins benefits from the fact that he played so little in 2006 and '07. He was safely out of harm's way for most of those two seasons. And didn't take the customary beating you expect as an NFL QB.
