Chargers Notes: Mathews, Floyd, Gates

Not everyone was back at practice when the Chargers returned from the bye Monday, but Norv Turner still believes there is hope everyone will play Nov. 22 against the Denver Broncos.

The most questionable, it appears, is tailback Ryan Mathews. Turner said he is taking a “wait and see” approach with Mathews’ sprained right ankle.

Wide receiver Malcom Floyd (hamstring) and linebacker Brandon Siler (foot) returned to practice and were limited in their reps. Tight end Antonio Gates did not practice, nor did receiver Legedu Naanee.

“I’m doing better,” said Gates, whose main injury is a torn plantar fascia on his right foot. “It’s a long week.”

With the game Monday, that extra day of rest could be the difference for Gates.

Naanee has missed four games with a hamstring injury.
