Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Week 2: Aaron Rodgers Will Look To Build On Hot Start

Week 1 saw only three quarterbacks throw for at least 300 yards. Geno Smith was one of them, making him one of the biggest surprises of the week. However, he only had one touchdown pass. There was a total of just nine quarterbacks who finished with multiple touchdown passes.
As we turn our attention towards Week 2, not every fantasy manager is lucky enough to have superstars like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson on their roster. Fantasy managers who are patching together the position can still acquire some valuable streaming options off the waiver wire.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data.
To provide advice you can implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Week 1 Recap
Michael Penix Jr. was our top performer from Week 1, finishing as QB10. He threw for 298 yards and one touchdown in an overtime loss to the Buccaneers. It was encouraging that he completed 64.3% of his pass attempts and didn’t throw an interception. He was picked off in each of the three games that he started at the end of last season.
As far as the flops from last week, Tua Tagovailoa takes the cake. He threw for just 114 yards and a touchdown, while also being picked off two times by the Colts. He even lost a fumble during the game. The Dolphins were blown out, which eventually led to Tagovailoa giving way to Zach Wilson late in the game.

Aaron Rodgers (Steelers) vs. Seahawks
Aaron Rodgers couldn’t have played much better in his debut for the Steelers, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-32 victory over the Jets. He completed 73.3% of his passes and didn’t throw an interception. The gunslinger didn’t shy away from tight coverage, either. Next Gen Stats has a stat called Aggressiveness (AGG%), which tracks the number of passing attempts a quarterback makes that are into tight coverage, where the defender is within one yard or less of the receiver at the time of the completion. AGG% is shown as a percentage of attempts into tight windows over all passing attempts. Rodgers’ AGG% was 20.0% in Week 1, which was the seventh-highest mark in the league.
The Seahawks didn’t struggle to defend the pass last year, finishing 13th in aFPA to quarterbacks. They picked off Brock Purdy two times in Week 1, but Purdy also threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Still, with how well Rodgers performed in Week 1, he has at least worked his way into the streamer discussion, especially with this being a home game for him.
