Chiefs designating WR Mecole Hardman for return

The Chiefs may be getting one of their key offensive players back as soon as this week.

Head coach Andy Reid confirmed in his press conference that Kansas City is set to begin receiver Mecole Hardman‘s 21-day practice window, according to multiple reporters. The club is designating him to return from injured reserve.

Fantasy Impact:

Hardman has been dealing with an abdominal injury and was placed on IR on Nov. 17. Before suffering the injury, Hardman had 25 receptions for 297 yards with four touchdowns this season. He’s also rushed for 31 yards with a pair of scores, the story said.

Chiefs ruled out WR JuJu Smith-Schuster for Sunday night’s game in LA; also down Mecole Hardman, who was placed on IR.

Fantasy Impact:

Patrick Mahomes has proven that it doesn't necessarily matter who is on the field, as long as he has Travis Kelce handy. With that said, we could be in for the most usage Kadarius Toney has ever seen in his career come Sunday night.

The Chiefs say that WR Mecole Hardman (abdomen) won't practice for the second straight day.

Fantasy Impact:

It would be a shame to see Hardman miss time in the midst of a breakout that many fantasy managers have been waiting years to see. If he's forced out of Week 10, we could see a bump in manufactured touches to new arrival, Kadarius Toney.

Chiefs trade for WR Kadarius Toney

The Giants are trading WR Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs for a third-round compensatory pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick.

Fantasy Impact:

This trade affects a number of players, but to what extent remains to be seen. Toney had clearly had a falling out with the new coaching regime, and trade rumors began to swirl almost immediately. The 2021 first-round pick has been sidelined for almost the entirety of this season, though the team continued to site health issues as the major reason he'd only appeared in one and a half games. Rookie Skyy Moore has received only 11 targets through six games and has yet to run 15 routes in any single game, so they may plug Toney into the role they were hoping to mold Moore into.
