Colts place Alec Pierce on IR

James Boyd

Sep 23 · 12:57 PM EDT

Colts WR Alec Pierce is being placed on IR after aggravating his surgically repaired left heel, coach Shane Steichen said.

Pierce will rehab with the "hope" of returning this season, but there's no definitive timeline.

Fantasy Impact:

In a separate report, Stephen Holder mentioned that Darius Slayton could potentially play on Sunday.

Pierce will miss at least four games, and Steichen’s refusal to offer a timetable suggests his absence could extend beyond the minimum. Downs and Allen should remain Indianapolis’ leading wide receiver targets, while Warren is positioned to maintain a prominent middle-of-the-field role. Slayton could eventually assume Pierce’s vertical and perimeter responsibilities, but his late arrival makes him a watchlist or deep-league addition rather than a confident Week 3 option.

Colts WR Alec Pierce (heel) to miss time, IR possible; team signs WR Darius Slayton

NFL.com

Sep 22 · 9:55 AM EDT

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce will miss several weeks due to aggravating a heel injury that he had surgically repaired, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday evening.

Pierce, injured in Sunday night’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, is likely to be headed to injured reserve, Rapoport reported, as Pierce intends to rehab and forgo surgery.

Surgery is still a possibility for Pierce, but if all goes well with recovery, he should return midseason.

Fantasy Impact:

It was announced Tuesday the team signed Slayton to add some depth to the WR room. Downs and Warren will likely turn into the team's main targets with Pierce out, but between Allen and Slayton one of the two will need to emerge, and that means fantasy value. Downs finished Week 2 with a 7-72-0 line but Allen had just one catch for five yards on five targets. Allen is 34 but is coming off an OK Week 1 where he caught six balls for 32 yards. Slayton is 29 and averaged just over two catches a game last season with the Giants before getting cut. Slayton is worth a gamble if you have the roster room, but it may take him some time to get up to speed. Treadwell did catch three balls for 61 yards, but that's his best stat line since 2021. Between 2022-25, he had just seven catches for 58 yards.

Colts WR Keenan Allen formally charged in impaired-driving case

Associated Press

Sep 16 · 12:19 PM EDT

Keenan Allen was formally charged Tuesday with two misdemeanors stemming from his August arrest: operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of at least 0.15 and operating while intoxicated.

Allen posted a $500 cash bond, and his attorneys waived an initial hearing scheduled for Wednesday. An attorney conference is scheduled for Oct. 26. Colts coach Shane Steichen declined to discuss the case Wednesday morning, but Allen was expected to participate in practice.

Related Players: Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Laquon Treadwell, Tyler Warren

Fantasy Impact:

There is currently no indication that the charges will affect Allen’s Week 2 availability. Fantasy managers can proceed normally while monitoring for any response from the Colts or NFL. A future suspension would create additional target opportunities for Pierce, Downs, and Warren, but projecting one at this stage would be premature.

Jaguars Beat: WR Zay Jones is team's X receiver

Mia O'Brien on Twitter

Jul 26, 2022 · 10:13 AM EDT

When I tell y’all Zay Jones is the Jaguars designated X Receiver, I ain’t kidding.

Christian Kirk, Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault, Laquon Treadwell

Fantasy Impact:

O'Brien went on to say between OTAs and the past two days: when Trevor Lawrence uncorks a pass, it’s always to Jones. Jones gained some momentum over the last seven games of 2021, when he hauled in 38 passes for 369 yards during that span for the Raiders. He's ranked just 103 on our WR list.
