Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker returns to full workout

Pete Sweeney

Sep 02 · 1:23 PM EDT

Just in from the Chiefs’ Wednesday workout. I did not see DT Chris Jones or LT Josh Simmons. S Chamarri Conner, DE Ashton Gillotte and DE Tyreke Smith (PS) were watching without a helmet. DE Jack Pyburn left early.

CB L’Jarius Sneed and RB Kenneth Walker did everything.

Related Players: Emmett Johnson, Brashard Smith

Fantasy Impact:

Walker’s return to a full workload effectively closes the short-term injury concern unless he experiences a setback. He can be drafted normally as a high-end RB1/2 option. Johnson remains the most relevant handcuff, while Smith profiles as a deeper developmental option with potential third-down work.

Chiefs Beat: Team loves with RB Emmett Johnson has showed

Pete Sweeney on X

Aug 31 · 9:15 AM EDT

The Chiefs love what Emmett Johnson has showed. Brashard Smith is a wild card Andy Reid can move around on offense, and he’s KR2. Best return in a while for KC on Friday night.

Related players: Kenneth Walker, Emari Demercado

Fantasy Impact:

The Chiefs moved on from from Demercado and it was due liking what they've seen from the rookie Johnson this offseason, the post said. The post added the team considers Walker a three-down back. It looks like Johnson will be the team's clear RB2. Walker may get a large majority of the work, but Walker owners may want to back themselves up by taking Johnson later in drafts.

Chiefs Beat: Team plans to give Kenneth Walker majority of carries

ESPN

Aug 04 · 3:44 PM EDT

The Chiefs have plans to give running back Kenneth Walker III the majority of their carries. They signed him for a reason, and they believe he gives HC Andy Reid something he hasn't had in a very long time -- a running back who can do everything they need. They like him as a blocker, pass catcher and between-the-tackles runner. They're running more under-center plays with Patrick Mahomes, as they think that's the best way to maximize what Walker does best.

Related players: Emmett Johnson, Emari Demercado, Brashard Smith

Fantasy Impact:

Perhaps more of note for Walker owners is the story believes Johnson has a shot to be the number-two back. Johnson is the rookie fifth round back drafted this past spring. It will be a situation worth watching, especially if Walker is going to get a heavy workload. The story added Walker might have operated in a timeshare last season with the Seahawks, but the Chiefs believe he's capable of much more.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco officially Out for Week 12

Nate Taylor

Nov 21, 2025 · 6:28 PM EST

Andy Reid said everyone did practice today, but Isiah Pacheco (right knee) is going to be out for Sunday's game against the Colts.

"It wasn't a setback," Andy Reid said "I think he's coming out pretty good. I think that's a plus."

Related Players: Kareem Hunt, Brashard Smith

Fantasy Impact:

Outside of a few dumpoffs to Smith, Hunt basically has the bellcow role when Pacheco is out, though he doesn't quite have the explosiveness to register close to an RB1 anymore. He's still useful as a top-30 option this weekend, though.
