Brandon Myers was supposed to take the baton and run with it. The Giants have had a revolving door at tight end over the past several seasons but the production has never dropped off.
Until now.
Myers, who had 79 catches for 806 yards and four touchdowns last season in Oakland, has just 23 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown in eight games this season.
Thus far, Myers is most remembered for failing to come down with a slightly high Eli Manning pass on the Giants' potential game-winning drive with 1:54 left to play in a 27-21 loss at Chicago. It's debatable who was at fault.
Myers was thought to be a perfect fit for the Giants and QB Eli Manning, but so far that hasn't been the case. According to the story, the fifth-year pro has struggled with his blocking – that’s not his game – and to get on the same page with quarterback Eli Manning. In the Giants’ passing game, the tight end runs a lot of options routes in which they alter their pattern depending on what the defense does. Both he and the quarterback must see the same thing and adjust.
